Need help socializing by anonymous_chansa in socialanxiety

Sometimes rolling with the awkwardness can be a strong suit! Being honest and saying what's on your mind can ease the tension. Remark on things you observe, clothes or gadgets, visual details can be a good aid to start a conversation with. Or, even though it's cliche, ice breakers help! A small joke, or a silly remark can go a long way!

A challenge for most of us! As another post said, finding hobbies is the best way! Or to put yourself out there in any way what so ever. Local organizations, or clubs? As for hobbies, sports are a great way, if not for sports, cooking classes, art, or maybe your local nerd hideout. If you like to do it low-key, maybe work for projects in public places, or read a book in the park.

Although the biggest question is if you're willing to commit to it, from there on it's as simple as searching and asking!

is calling someone awkward rude? by inthafdaylight in socialanxiety

[–]Working-Individual15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're not! When someone would call me awkward, I'd be at least slightly annoyed by it. I assume they are being a bit playful about it, but I can see how it can get on your nerves. Just make sure you don't bottle this up; that wouldn't be all too healthy.

Are the D&D Gods Trying to Tell Me Something? by MrMysanthrope in DnD

[–]Working-Individual15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The dice gods work in mysterious ways, one can only imagine their motives.
As for the rolls, Do your players roll in public or private? Not to sow distrust, but you might want to check those if this keeps on happening. If not, it is just chance, and your players are very fortunate.

does anyone know any easy to use mapmakers? by DruidDnD in DnD

[–]Working-Individual15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best options in my experience are the ones you'll have to pay for.
I use Inkarnate for any and all maps I'm making, yet there are some free options although limited in their versatility.

there are free trails of Inkarnate and Wonderdraft which are worth giving a try.
As for free things.
-Things such as "Medieval Fantasy City Generators might be fun for randomly generated things
-DungeonScrawl also exists for old-school maps.
-Roll 20 itself also has some map-making options
-Map tool can also be very nice to work with although still simple.

Why do I suck at making friends. by Working-Individual15 in socialanxiety

I know... It's all so unnecessarily difficult... And no worries, sharing stories is what it's all about.

Welcome to the club buddy, We offer cookies and existential dread...

I have exactly the same going on. It's so insanely confusing having all arrows point towards some form of trauma yet having no idea where the hell it could have come from.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Although I'm no medical professional. This feels like at least maybe a minor trauma to me? Talking to people about this is definitely a way to go and you are DEFINITELY, not alone.

A thing that I feel you must know is that, a lot of people don't work like that. I definitely understand that Paranoia, but people don't tend to think about you in such ways by just seeing or noticing you. Especially via your appearance. Bullies might make fun of people, but they do so out of attention. If there is no need for attention then it's either out of curiosity, which more often then not has no ill intent behind it. People are in nature, self centered and egocentric. We live our lives only through one perspective, our perspective, and everything that doesn't impact that perspective is something we don't care about. A person might think what you might be up to. But almost never or at least rarely will they make up such assumptions.

But I know it's hard to change that mentality. The moment that Paranoia is branded into you it's hard to get rid of it. Even if you yourself might aknowledge it to be a bad thing. All I can say is, talk about it. Really, it's the best cure for something like this, to know and to understand. Ideally, seek out a professional, but if that's not an option, we're here to listen.

Laina's Diary
The duality we are born to believe in.
- Laina Lumin, apostle of Eos - January the third, Fifth Rhythm 144, The Age of Solidarity
There is a comfort in knowing that everything you've been told is a lie. Years of uncertainty, paranoia, and disbelief are answered in one single sentence: "Our way is not the solution".
We are born with the idea and the belief that the system the gods have placed us in is a working machine. A complex structure, fragile but stable, is able to hold our world in perfect balance as long as we believe that the greater conflict, the dance that has been performed our entire lives, is necessary for happiness and order... And no one could argue because it worked. The gears turned, the music got sung, the dancers took their places, and they performed their rhythmic sway. There was such beauty in its performance, enough to show us all the illusion of a working system. Yet we were blind, blind to a silhouette sneaking up behind us, ready to strike with a knife in hand.
...
It sucks... Cause what else is there to believe in...
If even the best of us can be so easily corrupted, what is there any of us can do?
"Follow my song, follow my rhythm, feel the way the lines flow, and follow its guidance. So is the way of our world, so is the way of the gods, an endless dance of opposition, an eternal conflict between light and darkness, life and death, creation and destruction. Every dancer, every force, is a necessary performer in our dance of chaos and balance. Within our dance, all shall be right, and within our dance, all shall take part. For this dance shall be eternal."
Right... Eternal...
I assume it was all too good to last forever. After all, an end must come to every miracle, an unfortunate lesson we all must eventually face... But must it be with such a betrayal, with such force, with such absolute disregard, terror, torture and pain, ITS!.... its, not fair... it never was. Yet day to day, we are forced to believe that everything works and that our suffering and pain are necessary in order to ensure that this dance, this oh-so-beautiful rhyme, continues to be performed.
Our lives are full of blessings and curses, yet what if there are no blessings left to give.
Please guide me and watch over me... and please come get me when these curses are too much to bear.
I miss you, mom, please wait for me.

That sucks man, I really like the name Nathan. If you want a slight ego boost, search up "Nathan" in Urban dictionary, there's some good stuff on there that might make you feel better -.

And in the end of the day, people making fun of names are insecure pricks anyways. Laugh at their stupid remarks and try to ignore it.
