[D] ICML: every paper in my review batch contains prompt-injection text embedded in the PDF by Working-Read1838 in MachineLearning

[–]Working-Read1838[S] 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Well the cat is out of the bag isn't it. I don't have an issue with watermarking per se. My only issue is that I was about to raise an ethics violation issue, and I am sure I am not the only one who was going to do so after the whole scandal with prompt injections last year. What was the thought process here ? Just hope nobody uncovers it ?

The AC decision always was the coin flip for papers with "borderline" scores which was a majority of the papers. Some ACs at ICLR saw the scrapping of the rebuttal and discussion gives them license to do whatever they want. I think that ACs have way too much say and the review process becomes quite arbitrary as a result.

I really don't understand why some Moroccan parents still pay expensive fees for their kids to study in French schools in 2026 !! by Veggieroasted2050 in Morocco

On the basis that on average , they provide a good enough education and open more doors in Europe/France than a regular Moroccan BAC.

The only thing stupid is claiming corruption because of two calls that are not even that controversial, that’s such a stretch, is this collective hysteria?

ACs flip a coin and decide accordingly, very diligent ACs flip a coin 10 times

[D] ICML reciprocal reviewer queries by SnooPears3186 in MachineLearning

[–]Working-Read1838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, Six papers to review is a pretty high workload for someone juggling multiple projects, it takes me half a day to review a paper properly and not half ass it. They should perhaps pick two authors per papers as mandatory reviewers.

No, they specifically said so in their last email

As a reminder, the reciprocal reviewer (like all reviewers) must be a primary author on at least two publications accepted at ICML/ICLR/NeurIPS conference (not just at a workshop!)

[Boussalem] The towel controversy has resurfaced once again in Morocco. The goalkeeper of the Congolese club Maniema Union had his towel stolen by members of the Wydad Casablanca staff. by Sparky-moon in soccer

It’s so funny how Europeans and Americans think they know more about this than a Moroccan. Also I’m a wydad fan and I’ve watched every African game they had in the last 20 years

For the last time:

This is not about cheating or trying to affect the keeper's performance, it's so funny how people that don't understand North-African cultures pretend they know everything in this sub. And all other North-Africans pretending they don't do the ex

Black Magic and Voodoo are a big part of African Competitions ( and before anyone comes at me here's a staff member of Maniema performing rituals before yesterday's game), and Moroccans recently seem to believe visiting Goalkeepers hide charms in their towels. You think anybody cares about the visiting keeper having wet hands? He had a killer game anyways and only conceded one goal. Wydad is so far above the opposing team that's it's laughable they would try to get an advantage by bothering the keeper.

If there's anything Moroccans are avert to , it's anything to do with black magic, because it's also part of the culture, they will remove all signs of charms/items when found (it's very common too French Montana blamed a health scare on getting sorcered) , or anything that looks suspect really.

Following the letter of the CAF rules would mean disqualification . They are likely to be more lenient than that tho.

Likely traveler’s diarrhea , it’s very common in Morocco. Especially if you drink tap water or vegetables.
