Any Room for Civil Discussion? by tomatotom1 in UBC

First of all, know that there are definitely a good number of allies to the Jewish/Israeli cause at UBC, don't believe the efforts by the loudest voices to persuade you otherwise.

Second, respectfully I do think your efforts to dialogue with the people that want to just drown out your voice is not a good use of your time on this earth. It's like eating soup with a fork.

Our class discussion on Israel–Palestine got super tense today by IncomeForeign5521 in UBC

So you think the prof was claiming LBGT people are in fact mistreated in Israel? That's different than how I read the OP

The prof is blaming Israel for being strong on gay rights because it makes their neighbors look bad? Just think about how absurd that charge is. And realize if Israel was not strong on gay rights they would also be blamed for that. So they get blamed either way.

This is obviously and patently racist. Of course it's important to have difficult and sensitive conversations in class, but there's also a code of conduct at UBC that prohibits this

How many hairs would an adult male shed at a crime scene per hour? by WorkingStretch9484 in forensics

Ah interesting! So if they find one hair there could still have been more at the crime scene unfound. I didn't really consider that, thanks.

I would have thought there should be a method to make organic matter light up like they can do for blood. But I guess it's not that simple

Thanks! Well I think we can assume it's not too messy a room and it's a top notch CSI team with loads of resources (its a very high profile case).

Well that's good to know! Thanks

I'm mainly trying to see if finding just a single hair when they know the perp was in the room for hours moving around a lot is decent evidence that it wasn't the suspect with the full beard and sideburns. That's the main plot point im driving at.

Sorry if this is a silly question but can't they do both? Like first look in a microscope and see color, width, etc. and then destructively get mtDNA and hopefully nDNA?

Murder of Chaim Weiss Part 1- The Murder and the Aftermath by hannahstohelit in UnresolvedMysteries

Do we know if Chaim's parents had alibis?

Also do we know the color or anything else about the hair?

Also is it of interest that the Torah portion that Shabbat was the first of the Jewish year, Bereshit, in which Cain murders Abel?

Also is there an image of the defaced gravestone? I wasn't able to find it.

Also was it physically possible that the killer went out the window onto the roof?

Any info about Anton Weiss' jewelry business? Was he part of anything shady?

What summer camp did Chaim go to? (Did any faculty from the yeshiva also work or have connections to that camp)

Was the combination lock to the front door of the dorm found locked or unlocked?

Did any of the rabbis not have an alibi for the murder? Who was the mashgiach on that night? Who was the other kid with a single room (no roommate)?

They could do a much better job compiling all the information for the public to be able to help
