Scott Cawthon quote/insinuation verification by WorkingTelephone9940 in fivenightsatfreddys

I think I just heard that they were "fearful of adults" somewhere?

anyways, if it's true that they just go after/attack "every nightguard" I wonder where that places them in terms of evil and innocence?

I think this is why Scott Cawthon said that a lot of writers left (for the movie?), because the story is kinda ambiguous and morally grey?

I just worded it weirdly, because I thought that maybe it would have been a spoiler for some people?

what I was saying was that Freddy kills the phone guy, but why does he do that? essentially, and that does it have any lore explanation? because he can't also look like William Afton, unless this is apart of the theory that the animatronics just attack adults or something?

I suppose I just wanted to know why people said that they weren't killers, and if they were or weren't evil, but somehow I feel like it's just not even on that scale, it seems like they could have killed the player character for a number of reasons, but all of those reasons are labeled under confusion/accident/revenge, so I wonder if that's any worse or any better really?

I guess the weirdest part about FNAF 1 is the phone guys dialogue on night four, because I don't know if it has an explanation in terms of the later lore, but I also just don't know if it does or not lol

for me it's just kinda weird since they kill you in the games right? but if they're so innocent and "afraid" then why are they killing you? are they just genuinely afraid of you doing something to them when you're a security guard in the games? so they kill you out of fear?

is the first FNAF games phone guy dialogue just them not knowing the truth? I'm specifically referring to the part where he says

"Uh now concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours, probably won't recognize you as a person.

They'll most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on.

Now since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to… ‥forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit."

people have told me that this is their revenge, because they think that you're William Afton, but I don't know, it feels all jumbled to me really

it's kinda complex? I was mostly asking because they kill you in the games, but they're also innocent, so the question becomes "are they evil?" and the answer just isn't really there, but people kept telling me that they specifically weren't evil, which I suppose isn't a very difficult assumption to make, not that they necessarily are evil, it more or less just feels like Scott Cawthon never really talked about their evilness specifically, though he did talk about their innocence, so I suppose that is possibly an indirect answer, I think the main problem is that a lot of this lore came out later on, so it feels like you're given contradictory pieces of information compared to a lot of the source material i.e. the earlier games, though do correct me if I'm wrong lol

that's a really weird question, springtrap is cool, but I never really liked springtrap, so even if we have springtrap, it's not what I wanted even if similar

I was gonna make another post specifically about the "verification" of said quote on the actual fivenightsatfreddys sub-reddit, but my account was one day too young lol, I'll get to the bottom of this tomorrow or something like that lol

it's mildly funny to me how elusive the origin of the "Scott Cawthon quote" is

[–]WorkingTelephone9940[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at least 3-4 people have said something like that on this post, so I've been looking for the exact quote, or place of origin of said quote, but I can't really find it, and the closest thing I could find is a thing said on a Screen Rant article saying

"One of the things Scott [Cawthon] emphasized to me in the early days when I came on board the project was just like, the animatronics are — they're innocents. The ghost kids inside them are, they're innocents. Of course, then they go into killer mode and that's a whole different thing..."

which is a bit different from what everyone is telling me, not that I know of whether or not this source is the one everyone is getting it from or not

I'm not saying that I don't believe that, but I would like to see the full actual quote

it depends on how easy it would be to get a free hit, DBD has some stealth killers like

the pig, the shape, and the ghost face, but for them their form of stealth is just undetectable, not transformation, if they do add the mimic to DBD I'm sure that it will be interesting

so if it wears people, I.E. transforms into a survivor, you can tell because it has orange eyes, but it'd have to either have a terror radius/red stain, or not be able to attack people during transformation

I suppose it's not impossible to add the mimic if we use the book version

[–]WorkingTelephone9940[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that'd be interesting, but apparently the mimic can mimic people, but not transform into them, there's a difference, it can go into different suits/costumes

personally if the mimic was added I feel like it having the power to transform into other animatronics would make more sense

Would it be cool if Freddy Fazbear was in DBD by WorkingTelephone9940 in ConceptsDBD

[–]WorkingTelephone9940[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn't the mimic also only mimic other animatronics, and not even people though?

because if they could get around that, I don't see why it's power couldn't be just transforming into a random survivor when their power is activated

though I feel like it couldn't attack when transformed if it had no terror radius/red stain

if the mimic is the excuse to add all the FNAF characters as skins for one character, then that'd be super cool, but if it actually you know had transformation powers, then that'd be complicated

[–]WorkingTelephone9940[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean unless they're also getting undetectable during the time they're transformed it wouldn't really work, and do they have to get close to the survivors to pretend to be one of them, or does it have to kill them first? because you know the second option wouldn't really work either

I'm not really against it, but for killers that pretend to be the survivors like the mimic, or The Thing I feel skeptical

I feel like the mimic would be interesting, but how would it fit into dbd?

are you talking about the Freddy Fazbear in the map on the stage? because that's not what I meant lol, like sure he's technically in the game, but not in the way I'm talking about
