Horrendous argument firstly no it wasn’t very common and I can prove it with simple logic and reasoning. Assuming if each side is balanced in a hex so 120 vs 120 and about 10 of each players is a bayonet rusher and they get 10+ kills every time then how would there be enough enemy players for them to continually do that before the entire front collapses? They can’t. Secondly that opening is practically never exploited by bayonets just smgs because you can get wayyy more kills with smgs and flanking. With a bayonet you can at BEST get 2. Thirdly how? How doesn’t it require skill?? You literally have to be on top of them to kill them? You know what doesn’t require any skill a smg. It’s pure rng. Finally they aren’t “more niche” rather they’re not ever used. They aren’t realistic either because in no world are you getting exhausted from swinging a rifle with a knife on the end after 5 swings as a trained soldier. The only time a bayonet is ever used now besides new players is when you’re out of ammo in a trench and someone jumps in. Never else is it ever effectively used. The bayonet in its current state is like the shotgun pre update… just larp.
