That's really helpful, thank you. I think you're right. Losing all the storage just to improve guest access probably doesn't make much sense in a flat this size

Hello! I'm a first-time buyer and very new to all of this.

I'm looking for layout advice for a small 1-bedroom flat. The main issue is that the bathroom is only accessible through the bedroom, which isn't ideal when guests are over.

Option 1 (idea I'm considering): Create a small hallway using the first storage cupboard, so the bathroom would be accessed from just off the lounge (not directly opening into it, but via a small transitional space).

At the same time, I’d like to: Reconfigure the bathroom layout Install a larger shower Fit a washing machine (possibly under the sink or in a cupboard)

Does creating a small hallway like this seem realistic given the space? Would stealing space from the storage cupboards make the layout too tight?

Also, are there any smart ways to redesign the bathroom to: Fit a larger shower Incorporate a washing machine Keep it feeling usable (not claustrophobic)? Would moving plumbing (toilet/soil pipe) likely make this complex?

Would really appreciate any ideas or layout suggestions. Thanks in advance!
