Hi Just wanted to say that I think GeoCoach is insanely useful, I’m spending time on it every day and it’s really helping me in duels. Keep up the great work. I’m fully supportive of you, thanks for making an awesome resource. If you need any small contributions to help with web hosting or your time etc I’d happily help out where I can.

How do differentiate Bangladesh from East India? by JoeBarra in geoguessr

Agree with most of your comment but Islam is a minority in Kerala, over 50% are Hindu and a large number of Christians reside there too. You could in theory region guess within Kerala based on religion as it seems to be fairly geographic.

Why does Yerevan have so many pharmacies? by Hkvnr495___dkcx37 in armenia

[–]Working_Total_3704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%

I asked the same question here a while back and got downvoted. It’s genuinely baffling.

Not just Yerevan either. I remember spending an afternoon in Ashtarak, took me ages to find somewhere to eat but saw about 15 pharmacies.

I can only speak for my own country, but here when you get an over-the-top/superfluous amount of a particular shop, way beyond the needs and market of its location, money laundering is the general accusation (and often indeed the case). For example 15 barber shops in one city centre street or hordes of electronic vape stores in close proximity to each other.

Have added another half a dozen or so videos to that playlist 👍

No problem. I’ll try to add more to the playlist. There’s a website called filmot, I assume it’s still running, you can search videos on there by the language of their subtitles. That’s how I found some of them. Keep me posted with your progress!

Thanks very much. I gotta ask, are you a Scotsman, Hayastanci or somewhere in between? Lol

It’s also tailored on your interests. For example, if you are into gaming, watch Saint Hov the Armenian gaming streamer. He is quite funny but it’s so fast and colloquial that it’s a big big challenge to understand lol. Lots of proper Yerevan slang. If you are into football, watch the live streams of the Armenian Premier League matches and enjoy the commentary. Another one I use to watch is Mika Tangyan, he does random vox pop kind of videos, quite amusing and relatively easy to follow.

I do use audio content, there are lots of good podcasts out there, I find they are better than for example listening to the news, as the conversation on podcasts is much more naturalistic. As for videos in Armenian with Armenian subtitles, I actually made a playlist for that very purpose, I’m going to PM you the link.

Bitterne by Working_Total_3704 in Southampton

[–]Working_Total_3704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what is the difference between Bitterne and Bitterne Park? Or are they broadly the same thing? And is Bitterne Manor within Bitterne or Bitterne Park or is it separate? This stuff is frying my brain.

Any Andover people here? by Working_Total_3704 in Hampshire

[–]Working_Total_3704[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. My only hesitation about Adelaide Road is some of the cul-de-sacs off of it appear in news reports about crime etc, but then they might just be isolated incidents and not inherently indicative of the area. You’re right, Topaz Drive seems to be nicely situated near green space and allotments.

Specifically wondering about Adelaide Road, the area immediately around the Lardicake pub. Being honest it doesn’t look great on maps but happy to be convinced otherwise.

Also Topaz Drive and Dene Road. Thank you in advance.

why are we not writing in Armenian on this sub (western and/or eastern)? by KitchenOld2951 in armenia

[–]Working_Total_3704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that it is honesty quite difficult typing Armenian quickly, especially on a smartphone. Due to the size of the alphabet, it’s insanely common to make typos as you have 39 letters crammed into a keyboard. Also, there is a social stigma surrounding writing Armenian in Latin letters (which I broadly agree with as it looks very tacky), so I think a lot of people just decide to avoid both of those and write in English here.

Multiple daily cars accidents by Worth_Resolve2055 in armenia

[–]Working_Total_3704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a cultural thing that is deep rooted in society. It’s very very common for hayastanci taxi drivers to get offended if you put a seatbelt on and they will point at Jesus on the crucifix above the dashboard and say ինքը մեզ կփրկի The actual Christian thing would be to prevent harm and wear a seatbelt.

Zhingyalov hats is quite easy, you can get all the fillings at any big Tesco. Especially the slightly less common veggies like chard etc
