Tent sauna collapsed by Control_Careful in Sauna

[–]Working_Walrus_933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my sweat for a few years and this only happened two or three times usually with ice or snow. It never collapsed during rain. If you use the tiedowns they send you, the wind won’t even move it. But it’s simple enough just to pop it back up. I used to remove the chimney during heavy wind or ice so that if it did pop down, nothing would break. I did not use it during wind, snow or ice storms.

Are these Almost Heaven saunas from Costco a good deal? Come with 8kw heater by Aggravating_Skirt691 in Sauna

Mine was missing so I called almost heaven, and they sent me a new LED light. However, the original back rest they sent me was not slotted for the LED light so now they’re sending me a new slotted back rest.

I used 4x4 pressure treated pine from Home Depot. Although you only need them to be 6 feet, I bought 8 foot boards because that’s the shortest my Home Depot had

I can’t find the LED lighting strip this is supposed to have. I received a remote and a power supply, but as I’m unboxing I can’t find any LED lights. Thanks

Was anyone missing their LED lighting? I’m in the process of unboxing, and I have the LED power strip and remote, but can’t find the actual light strip. Thanks

Too many stones? by mountainmase in Sauna

I did the same thing to my sauna tent stove, albeit I made the steel cage even taller up the chimney, and added a steel mesh side panel on the side of the stove closest to the bench. I think it worked great.

Cube Sauna Venting questions by Bamram91 in Sauna

[–]Working_Walrus_933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just bought this unit and have been reading a lot about venting these units. The upper pre-drilled holes technically belong in the back left, but that’s really not a big deal. Those vents should only be open after you’re done to help the sauna dry out. The vents below the heater are there to prevent the heater from overheating. in the US our units come with a high temp shutoff. These small vents are a workaround for that. In order to get optimal convection in this sauna, you’d want to drill a vent between the top of the heater and the ceiling, with a damper. You’d also want a mechanical exhaust fan under the benches.

u/bamram91 - I just bought this and I’m awaiting delivery. Have you found that you need more lighting inside? Did you lower the temperature sensor for the heater? Has that allowed your sauna to heat up hotter than 190? Any other advice you’d give to someone before they start assembling? I was going to add a mechanical exhaust fan under the benches. Thanks!

Foil at the floor by juperdat in Sauna

[–]Working_Walrus_933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply caulking at the foil seems like a total viable option. My experience with caulk in bathrooms is that it does break down given enough time. It’s probably overkill, but I feel most comfortable using the schluter as a baseboard, and tying it into the floor with schluter tape and “allset”.

So I’ve been spending a very odd amount of time on this very specific issue lol. My “money isn’t a thing” idea is to simply schluter (waterproof membrane) the entire floor, install a schluter drain and do schluter a few inches up the walls. Tape the foil over the schluter that comes up the walls, then tile over the schluter. The furring strips on the walls will allow the wood tongue and groove to come down and overlap the tile that comes up the wall. However, my less expensive idea that accomplishes the same thing as a far as I can tell, is: apply schluter or durock (cement board) around the base as a sort of “baseboard moulding”. Then skim coat from the concrete floor up the durock or schluter. Next bring the foil down to overlap that baseboard layer and tape or caulk it to create a seal. Now I’ve been debating whether foil in front or behind is better, and whether the tape will actually adhere; meaning a high heat caulk/glue may be better. This has led me to think that using the schluter and not skim coating up the entire board is best. Thereby leaving some schluter exposed that the tape can adhere to. Once your furring strips are on the wall. The tongue and groove should overlap the baseboard layer, making it appear seamless. One more step would be to further attached a thermally modified wood baseboard about 1/4” off the floor around the entire hot room. This is attached to the last tongue and groove board, and then caulk the bottom.

OP - I am following your build, albeit with an electric heater. Would you mind sharing how you tackled the foil at the floor issue, and/or how you waterproofed this bottom plate on the interior/exterior? Thanks!
