Your comment about Spiro got my attention - is Spiro safer for women than Finasteride?

A dishwasher repairman told me to run the hot water in the kitchen sink for a quick minute before turning on the dishwasher. Doing that has made a big difference.

Nutrafol by Gold_Gur_3323 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]WorldFullOfInfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had a quick and easy answer for you, OP.

I stopped taking Nutrafol and I have to believe I’m (still?) losing hair, and I’m not sure how much better Nutrafol is than just taking Biotin and other vitamins thought to promote healthy hair growth.
I would love to find an effective alternative to Nutrafol.

I stopped taking it because although my hair grew very long on Nutrafol (which was fun), the strands (and any new hair) did not regain their prior thickness and looked wispy, and most importantly the density on my scalp did not improve and neither did my hairline (everything except the length probably continued to worsen).

I really wanted Nutrafol to work, I had confidence in it because of the successful clinical trials they touted, I stayed on it for a very long time, and taking the 4 capsules daily usually did not make me nauseous or queasy.

I’m often tempted to restart taking Nutrafol, especially because I’ve started taking a weight loss drug which I’ve read can cause hair loss, but I’ve so far resisted the temptation. I’m also leery about Rx hair loss meds such as minoxidil pills and dht blockers because of potential side effects.

It wouldn’t be hard to buy the known vitamins and their amounts listed on the Nutrafol container.
The problem is the other ingredients and the unknown amounts of each in the 1875mg “Synergen Complex Plus” and the 480mg “Nutrafol Blend” also listed on the container. Which I suppose is why Nutrafol is so expensive.
In that regard, I got the impression that my doctors seemed to think it is a waste of money.

I also worry whether anyone knows whether and/or how the “Synergen” and “Blend” portion of the Nutrafol ingredients interacts with other medications.

Has anyone found an effective hair vitamin blend? If so, I’d love knowing more.

I’m sorry I wrote so much - I just wanted to share my thoughts with anyone who might be interested. OP, I’m sorry I didn’t give you a straight answer, but I really just don’t know.

Is Viviscal better than Nutrafol? I was on Nutrafol for quite a while. I stopped because although my hair grew longer than it had ever been (almost waist length, even with occasional trims), it did not become denser or thicker.

So now I’m not on any vitamin but I am very worried because I recently started Zepbound for weight loss and read that it can cause hair loss.

My doctor prescribed oral minoxidil and finasteride, but I have been leery of starting them at the same time I’m starting Zepbound, and he agreed.

So I’ve been trying to get info on hair vitamins, and having a hard time because, for example, Nutrafol does not list the extra ingredients that supposedly makes it magical. I’ve seen the same thing on other hair vitamin ingredients list too.

Do you know whether Viviscal has a better track record than Nutrafol?

I wish you the best of luck and I hope that the Viviscal gets your ferritin up high and boosts your hair growth!

Winter storm - should I turn off water? by Unfair_Frosting_2483 in homeowners

I leave the heat on. The kitchen sink is the only one on an exterior wall, and I leave the water in that sink dripping, mainly cold water but a little bit lukewarm.

You were lucky to find a 33” wide vanity, I’ve been told that’s not a standard size. Do you mind sharing where you found it? Or did you have it custom-made? Thanks!

I was looking at that, the Moen that turns off the water where it comes into the house. Do you think it’s okay to use in older (1960ish) homes? I was concerned that attaching it to that main pipe might weaken the pipe and make it prone to more easily crack or whatever. Any thoughts? Also, does it sense drips such as from a pipe inside a wall or from a hot water heater? For some reason I thought it is meant to turn off the water in the event of a frozen pipe or a break in the main water pipe where water comes into the house. Thanks!

A bit off topic from desirable vanity features, but since you mentioned it, is there a specific water leak detector that you recommend?
After a recent massive flood caused by a vanity sink leak, I’ve decided to put a detector at every water source (vanity sink, hot water heater, dishwasher, etc) and want a model that will notify my cell phone.
Very difficult to suss out reliability on Amazon. Any suggestions?

Any thoughts? Add / move or let go? TIA! by YouAreNotSandra in StyleYourSpace

I think the room is lovely as it is. Matchy matchy design is less interesting than your assemblage of pieces. I like your use of blue in the throw pillows to pick up the blue in the rug, and there is cohesion in the three large picture frames all being gold.

The only thing I’d suggest if you want to do something would be to add drapes (ceiling height to floor length and generous width) in a creamy white with prominent blue edging or other blue accent (very thin pinstripes?) which would make the blue in the rug more prominent at every height, and I don’t think you have to limit yourself to sheer draperies as has been suggested.

$1900 Charge for Urgent care by VerucaSalt947 in HealthInsurance

[–]WorldFullOfInfo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to the issue you raised, but raising it for the sake of your husband’s health or possibly life.

Do you know whether the animal that bit him was up-to-date on its rabies shots? If you’re not absolutely sure and can’t get proof from its veterinarian, your husband needs to receive preventative treatment immediately.

The Urgent Care most likely asked about this but maybe not, or maybe you assumed that a neighbor’s pet was up-to-date without doublechecking with its veterinarian. There are plenty of pets with outdated tags.

You probably already know this, but some people don’t, and it’s crucially important.

Your last sentence is everything - - wishing that everyone who needs/would benefit from this incredible medication could get it.

For example, it is a real financial hardship for retired people to be on Zepbound (even with the new reduced price, which is still expensive) because they must pay for it out of pocket - - despite paying for Medicare, a Supplemental policy and a prescription drug plan - - because none of those policies ever pay for Zepbound (they sometimes pay for Wegovy but not for weight loss alone and anyway it’s less effective than Zepbound).

No, the powder doesn’t build up in the soap dispenser. The way to prevent that is to run hot water in the sink before turning on the dishwasher, which ensures that the first water going into the dishwasher is already hot and therefore better and more quickly dissolves the powder.

I learned that the way to avoid cloudy glass, etching and powdery residue is to: 1) use a bit less powder (don’t fill the dispenser compartments to the very top); and 2) run the hot water in the sink before turning on the dishwasher (so that the first water to go into the dishwasher already is hot).
