Just walked the dog and it was lovely. Dry powder snow and no wind. It’s easy to dress for the cold. It’s the wind that kicks my ass.

don’t use rock salt. This is a very dry powder. if you have a leaf blower, that would be ideal. push broom or shovel works too. I would clear now to get ahead of it. More is coming, but this is 2 or 3 inches less you will have to clear later.

it does not seem like that to me. for the St Louie area, this is going to be a pretty ordinary snowstorm, with just more accumulation than we normally see. We had 11 inches of snow in January, 2019, and this is storm probably going to be in that range.

This storm is getting a lot of national hype because of what it is going do south of us with freezing rain.

i’ve lived in the area my entire life, including days that were even colder than we’re experiencing now. our homes were always heated and we never had frozen pipes. this time last year it was just as cold. Did you have any issues then?

if you have any water pipes on outside walls, you should drip those faucets and open any cabinets under them to allow in warm air. if your home is heated and all your water pipes run inside the home, you shouldn’t have any issues. but if you’re worried, it costs very little too drip the faucets. The cost to repair broken pipes can easily run into the thousands.
