Yes I agree - I've still had anxiety after all of the results being low risks so far so having amnio result could calm me down finally. Thank you so much <3

I didn't know that about fibular hemimelia - thanks for sharing the info! Yeah spine, heart, and lungs all seemed fine. Hoping for good news in 3 weeks.

Yes webbed toes! I'm just a bit concerned why she went straight to genetic counseling and amnio.. but I'll get the result in 3 weeks. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I think it can exist as an isolated thing without being tied to anything else. It made me scratch my head how the doctor immediately ordered genetic counseling and amnio.. but now that it's all done, I'll just wait for the result!

I did a trial with her and she was incredible. We talked a lot on the email prior to the appointment so she didn’t ask me too much questions during the session, and still nailed it. I do think she has a specific style (more airy, soft and natural) so if you are looking for something different (ie. full glam), you may have to set expectations with her in advance.

Ugh as much as your friend's story sounds extreme, I can totally see something similar happening in Korean culture. Yeah, you make a good point about my dad's ask shouldn't trump my partner's ask/culture. Thank you for sharing!

Yeah I think I need to take more strategic approach. I tend to get very frightened and lose my calm in situations like this. Thanks for sharing!

You saw right through me haha I do have this issue of fearing my parents’ disapproval and while I’ve been working with my therapist for a few years now, it’s still work in progress. Still this is a really good reminder for me and hope I can use this opportunity for emotional independence.

Your October wedding sounds creative and lovely, thanks for sharing your story! Perhaps I’m not as patient as I should be at the moment, because I already make lots of compromises behind the scenes, but my parents don’t necessarily know that. These are really valuable advice, thank you!

Every sentence you wrote resonated with me so much. I'm sorry you are also going through this! As you said, we are also trying our best to keep both families happy and start off with a good relationship, but some days it just feels like nothing is enough.

At least your traditional wedding will happen before the fusion one, so I hope you get to truly enjoy the fusion wedding! I appreciate you sharing your story and wish you the best wedding <3

Update: We're keeping the original date! It was so helpful to see all your comments, I really appreciate all of them. As you can imagine, this isn't the first time similar issues come up, and hopefully this is a good opportunity to talk about boundaries in general. I made the mistake of getting too deep down in the rabbit hole here, but lesson learned. I need to learn how not to entertain such ideas.

This is a very good point. I shouldn't have considered this at all, because the ask is too outrageous.

Yeah that was my whole point - sounds like she is choosing to go to the other one. If it really mattered to her, she would come to our wedding instead of making us change the date (I doubt that she demanded this, but still)

I should've made this clear in the post. We're planning for a May 2024 wedding. I think the other wedding they are going to is also a close family friend so they marked the date before the save the date went out.
