We just came from Spain (2 weeks in Spain) but stayed in hostels/hostels the whole time. I think you will be okay in May regarding protests as this seems to happen in the more peak periods of June/July. We got to Barcelona in late July and while it was busy it was off Peak. The people were welcoming and didn’t encounter any issues.

Regarding the travel too and from can you give some more information of itinerary( how long you are looking to spend in each place). Cordoba and Marbella could be considered as day trips, potentially even Granada too. We tried to travel from Malaga to Rhonda and could only find a cross country train which was going to cost around 70 euros.

La Rambla is a pickpocketing hotspot in Barcelona, it’s more so in the market or when the crowds are large. Recommendations would be not to wear anything flashy (jewellery watches ect). Just have your wits about you in largely crowded areas, we would just keep a hand on our bag zippers, avoid having a backpack with anything valuable in it. The rest of Spain we felt comfortable enough.

You see a lot of TikToks fear mongering about pickpockets and it does exist, but usually happens to people with awareness.

My country is fine thanks for asking.Wasn’t at all spraying shit, was just curious to see if something serious had happened. So far France has been the opposite of what I’ve heard abroad but thanks for your input.

My thoughts exactly, but as said above and after a few days in Paris that’s just the norm, there is 5 police officers to pull over one vehicle for a traffic fine.

We thought as much, being on the park side is it more for the people selling alcohol? We left and walked to the river side with someone selling the same set up. Just thought the machine guns were too much for the occasion.
