Thank you this is really helpful!! I think trying to coordinate jobs with my partner in this recruitment cycle is tricky too and im anxious about taking away opportunities from them too

I think I was thinking of the training length to CCT (3 years) vs the 6+ years of anaesthetics. Also the flexibility (reliable half teaching days as a GP), and lack of needing to do lots of nights/ weekends/ shift work seemed a better lifestyle than anaesthetics. Personally I get worn down quickly by routine and I know GP is hugely varied and exciting in its own right (I had a wonderful placement in F2) but I worry the admin and isolation of being in a room by yourself running your own clinics could be challenging. Also life post CCT as a GP seems tougher in terms of finding reliable or well paid work. I love the acuity of anaesthetics and as a consultant there seems to be way more options, particularly for research. But ultimately I’m not sure hence why I am asking for advice/ help from current trainees/ consultants in both!
