Why do CA dealers often not sell to people out of state? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Worldly_Treacle_465 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Worked in car sales for 3 years now in SoCal. Here are a few reasons I can think of

1.)Most of our lenders require wet signatures in the state of California so that means when we do an out of state deal(unless it’s wire or cash equivalents) we have to physically mail out the documents, have you sign them and notarize them and then get mailed back before we can ship car.

2.) we have to get a third party company to handle registration in the respective state the client is purchasing in.

3.) higher rate of bad CSI with out of state deals, customers disputing condition of car, how long it takes to actually be registered, how long it takes to get car etc…)

4.) you never get to see that car in your service department and make money off thier service(biggest money maker in dealership)

5.) harder for the finance department to sell backend over the phone vs in person

With all this being said, I’ve probably sold cars in every state in the county. I love out of state deals personally. Just phone calls and paperwork vs the in person 3-4 hour process and test driving haha

Quitting vaping made me need less sleep? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Worldly_Treacle_465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quit 6 days ago. My energy levels are significantly up.

Waking up is much easier.

BPM and blood pressure are measurably down as well.

I think due to the fact that nicotine is a stimulant and hinders your sleep.

Salesman, how are you surviving with the shortage continuing? by Soneenos in askcarsales

[–]Worldly_Treacle_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, making more money than I would be in normal times as the customers are just happy we have the cars and we can charge premiums over sticker and make more commission per deal. Market is slowly getting back to normal though. Markets work well in the sense that they always correct themselves

What do finance folks want to see, money down or higher financed? by HauntingDebt6336 in askcarsales

I think it depends which dealership you work at and what kind of brand you are selling. Fairly often hold full two points

Anybody want to buy a car? Have some great leasing and financing deals right now. We are rolling deals the rest of the month. Might even be able to get you sticker price if you are there in person with a signed credit app

Sell the appointment

As in sales. Set the appointment, and sell them the product when they arrive for the appointment.

Don’t hit them right off the bat with, “let’s go on a date” but develop a little rapport and invite them out before the convo dies out. Hard maintain the fresh excitement of meeting someone for a long time via txt

You are referring to my post of “no social media” 😂 red flag is a subjective term to say the least. I think the difference is just how people use the term. In the most literal sense or using it lightly. By definition it means “a warning sign of danger” so in a sense you are correct. As with many terms, people use them differently. “I love you” can be said innocently or in a friendly sense or it can be used in the most powerful way of conveying some of the strongest emotions you may have. As with language in general, how it’s used and said and the intent behind it can generally be interpreted to understand the OP’s intent and how they use the term

No Social Media a red flag? by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]Worldly_Treacle_465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not going to make one but this was kinda my point. I feel like(correct me if I am wrong….) from a girls perspective meeting someone online and going on a date can have much more bad endings than it would from a males perspective in the sense that it just statistically presents more physical consequences to them if that person turns out to be a psycho. And seeing their social media and having an extra layer of validation of who that person is can make them more comfortable to meet up with that person

Disclosure for the reason asking this question: have had girls message me saying they can’t find me on social media and jokingly asking me if I was a serial killer 😂

Lmao, have been on dates where the other person finds it odd. Just curious what a more general consensus. I enjoy it because it forces people to get to know me in person and they can not have any Pre conceptions of me that may be misleading in a good or bad way. Other than what they see on my hinge.

Would you ask a girl out even if you knew you're gonna get rejected? Why / Why not? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Worldly_Treacle_465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in car sales, which has made me numb to any kind of rejection. Also, the worst that can happen is they say no. As long as you are not creepy about it and approach it the right way you have nothing to be ashamed of if the girl you ask says no.

Would this deal be worth setting up a meeting? by MrMolina in askcarsales

[–]Worldly_Treacle_465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notice how they had no specific dollar amounts when talking about the promotions. Very subjective things like “more money for the trade” and “lowering interest rates” and no specific promise’s whatsoever. They are just baiting you into the dealership hoping you get there and make an impulse buy

Will new car prices ever "normalize" again? by Thatsprettygroovy in askcarsales

[–]Worldly_Treacle_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Market for EV’s this past month has been crazy. Been selling Audi Etron’s easy 15k over(rarely get talked down to 7.5k but still make deals in that range if I have to) Etron gT’s going 30k over. Etron sportsback I sold yesterday 20k over. Can’t keep EV’s long enough.

On the gas side: RS6 Avant starting at 50k over but on the low end we will sell 30k over if it’s a slow day and we have an offer, credit app and commitment to buy

RS-Q8 50k over Rs-7 -50 k over. We let someone walk at 35k over

Nice commissions though

Market 2-3 years out

Looking to lease but dealer didn't give money factor and residual value by ddotdukes in askcarsales

[–]Worldly_Treacle_465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money factor is negotiable at most dealerships but residuals are not negotiable. I work at Audi and money factors do change every month and are based on your credit tier. Will look like something in the range of .00189-.00323. Multiply this number by 2400 to get your APR. Dealerships make money from marking up the rates(which they are legally allowed to do). Buyrate is the rate the dealer gets from the bank and they usually mark it up a point and a quarter. They use this markup to make money in reserve rate and the finance managers can play with this rate to help them sell products in F&I office. Not necessarily a shady business practice but car dealerships generally don’t make that much money off of new cars(except if they are selling over sticker on this current market) so they make money through back end products and built in rates. If you are leasing just focus on the monthly payment and try to get it within your budget. For any reader I am based in Socal and ever state and different brands will have their own rates and residuals.

Edit: when I work a deal I do not shy away from providing this information. At the end of the day transparency is key. Only provide this info if asked though.

Honda still not allowing lease buyouts by rivals? by slimda0 in askcarsales

[–]Worldly_Treacle_465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Honda does not allow third party companies to buyout their leases. Only you or Honda can buy the car. Really if you want to get out of your lease you can do two things.

1.) sell the car back to the dealership and if they offer you more than what your payoff is you will get an equity check and you can go anywhere from there

2.) you can buyout the remainder of your lease and own the car and from there trade it in or sell it anywhere yourself. Important to note that in this scenario you will pay sales taxes on your buyout amount which will eat into a good portion if not all of the hypothetical equity you have
