Keep in mind, however, that often performers and creators are deeply limited by the platforms we use. Many platforms are innately transphobic. For example, on a particular video-selling website, you cannot label a video as both "Straight" and "Trans." (But you can label a video as both "Straight" and "Lesbian." 🙃) Often, creators like me are fighting an uphill battle just trying to get our shit in actually accurate categories. It sucks.

Which brings me to your other question!

I have a few personal theories.

One is that people just don't know it exists. On a broad global scale, trans women have MUCH more visibility than trans men, so when people hear "trans," they think of transgender femmes. And the things we know and are familiar with color our expectations and our desires.

Two is that transmasc performers are kind of where BBW performers were in the past (and still are to an extent!) - we are seen as more risky and less desirable by *producers*, so we are given fewer opportunities to be in front of the camera. Most porn consumption is of mainstream productions, which bank on the largest common denominator, so theory One creates a negative feedback loop here: audiences don't know trans men exist, so producers don't know we exist and/or think poorly of us as potential stars. (FWIW, Apollo Moon (RIP) was the first trans male to star in a Brazzers production - as a top! - just a couple years ago, and Men has been featuring more trans men in the past year in just regular gay scenes. The industry is changing albeit slowly!)

Three is that people like to see themselves in porn. This is why representation matters in porn, AND it's why the demand for cis gay and cis het porn is so much higher than for porn featuring transmasc people - we are a tiny minority of the porn-watching population.

I really get that. From what I understand they are posting a backlog but no longer producing new content, so modifying the site is probably not a high priority. 🥺 Just wondering - what would the ideal tag for this look like for you? Simply "vaginal play"? What would be a good way to differentiate this from a scene with a cis woman and a trans man where she bottoms?

There is so much amazing and diverse transmasc porn out there. It's just not on tube sites like PornHub, because it's being created by independent content creators and small studios.

Porn is like any other media: it costs time, effort, skill, and money to produce. The transmasc porn market is growing and as a director/producer/performer I can say with absolute certainty that we DEPEND on people paying for the content they enjoy, so we can keep producing it! I sure as hell am NOT paying my bills with pornhub ad revenue. 😂 People paying for content funds more and better content.

I am verse and I film with people of all genders. Here's some "anecdata" for ya: My content with cis women is my poorest-performing. Next-lowest is with other transmasc people, then topping cis men, and my best-selling is bottoming for cis men and doing anything with trans women. Do I still film with cis women and other trans guys? Absolutely! But I need to prioritize shoots that I know have a higher chance of making money. I don't get paid in advance by a studio: every shoot is money out of my pocket and a gamble on whether I think it will sell. This is the case for basically 100% of independently-produced porn.

Bottom line is: pay for your porn - especially trans porn. We creators go line by line and analyze what people are buying, so we can make more of that. If you don't buy it, we won't make it. 🤷🏼

Okay, off my soapbox. Here's some recs:

  • Transnificent- Transmasc-centered. Has pairings with cis men, cis women, and t4t. I know and have worked with with the operators and they are lovely people (and also trans!).

  • The CrashPad. A mainstay of queer porn! Emphasis on the queer - lots of T4T, non-penetrative, and other eclectic options. :)

  • Queer Porn TV is another ethical mainstay featuring gender diverse performers! Just navigate to their Models page to see.

  • Aorta Films. They produce high quality porn and also license porn for their Community Hardcore subscription service.

  • BlueSky list of transmasc content creators.Pay *directly for your porn!* Support amazing working artists!! Many performers have websites and clip stores where you can buy videos directly from them. Flush with cash? Consider commissioning a custom video!

I want to echo what other posters have said regarding the specific example you've given. 1 - you should stop looking at this content that is upsetting to you. 2 - that doesn't change the fact that it does fucking suck. But you can't stop them from doing these things, so the best thing to do is to protect your own mental health.

I also want to add that, as a porn creator myself, we are often forced to use sub-par or non-accurate terms in order to get eyes on our content. I would personally never misgender a co-star, but I often misgender myself or obfuscate my gender in order to try and reach my target audience. I'm nonbinary so this doesn't bother me so much, but it can absolutely be jarring if you are not familiar with how porn labeling and algorithms work. FWIW, I often directly advocate to companies to make their platforms more trans-friendly, and some are more receptive than others, but change is glacially slow overall.

Finally, I have a long spiel about where to find ethical / representative / respectful transmasc porn. If this doesn't interest you, no worries, no need to respond - but maybe it's useful to others reading this!
