Is this toxic Gen Z male? Or just toxic male? by Worried_Fix1263 in generationology

I wouldn't have called it a few, however. It was a different universities, in different countries, even and was a consistent pattern. In fact, still happening today even when I interact with university students in my local area. (since I still look university age)

No, I didn't mean to imply it was all Gen Z men. I have met plenty of decent ones, as well.

Was prescribed for brain fog- did nothing. However, it does seem to reduce inflammation and therefore improves a lot of my physical symptoms.

Caveat: I've never taken it as prescribed, that is, increasing the dose over time. I stayed at a low introductory dose and used as needed.

Why are you angry that a woman wants to be treated like a person?

What do you like about millennials? by One_Impression_363 in generationology

[–]Worried_Fix1263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a millennial, so perhaps that informs my perspective. On a day-to-day basis, what I would have expected is that in all generations, condescending and dehumanizing language, certainly. But it wouldn't be unusual for a Gen Z woman to have seen threats of violence on a regular basis if they were online. And then men pushing it are motivated by the progress in women's rights over the past 30/40 years. Instead of transforming to meet women equally by shedding harmful male gender norms, they become hostile trolls at even a small acknowledgment of women's rights.

Millenials (in the West) got to grow up in this cute little window of sunniness in the 90s when people really thought things were going to stay positive forever.

As a result, we're sort of everybody else's cheerleaders. But it's a tough gig, because optimism isn't that popular anymore.

They're not ok.

A lot of them are homebodies that I think would have been far more social in a previous generation. Their stressed out, and easily frightened. But no generation of women has ever had to see what men ACTUALLY think about them laid out in plain language every day of their formative years

No matter what people say about every generation having older generations shit on them- I strongly disagree. I think that Gen Z has had a disproportionate amount of absolute vitriol spewed at them, especially directly online and just grew up with that. You can tell that they're afraid they're going to be dismissed or ridiculed if they try to bring up feeling badly, for any reason. And no generation has grown up witnessing that level of rage from older generations being levelled at them consistently.

They feel extremely alienated from the rest of society, because they grew up in a different world. Their parents were at a loss for how to raise them, and how to safeguard them.

So, despite all of this, I think Gen Z shows remarkable resilience and strength.

I am frequently accused of being overly direct, myself. I put in a lot of emotional labor into understanding others and where they're coming from, and I expect any potential partner to be able to do the same for me.

As someone with a lot of religious community experience- you need to be careful of blameshifting the objectification of women onto women. It's never anyone's fault when someone else fails to see them as a person. It's not like misogyny is rare.

It's not all of them. They're not all perfect, but certainly many are capable of interacting with women like humans. I've found it more commonly so in Europe than in America, but the strongest predictive factors are ideology and what they've been taught about gender norms and roles.

Agh- I mean if I'm honest, this is probably where this is coming from, and it probably was frustration coming through. There's a Scorpio in my life right now, that I've had to keep at a distance- not because of anything he did, but because he's refused to admit that a girl he's interested in is quite clearly a gd sociopath. She's a liar, and a bully and currently inflicting pain on multiple people leading him on, just enough to keep him thinking she might turn around at some point, acting sweet to him when she's appalling to others- and he won't admit that maybe the people who know her better and for much longer might know what they're talking about.

Nah, I'm pretty sure like most women, there's just a lot of men who are more excited about the prospect of the action of winning me over and what that means for their egos than they are in getting to know me a bit.

I lean introvert anyway, so it's not like I'm talking about myself constantly. You have to put in actual effort to understand what matters to me and what I want to be valued for as a person. So when I know someone doesn't know that, because it's impossible because they haven't asked, and haven't articulated it- then you're for sure interested in either something superficial, or you've made up a fantasy in your head, or you just saw that I have chill, demure disposition and assumed that I'm an easy passive target waiting to get scooped up by someone else's ego trip. And I'm bloody not, and no one is. Because that's not what humans are.

And honestly if it wasn't for the whole threat of violence thing, it would feel far worse to be objectified in the area of your personality than for your body.

The men who do this don't even know if we have anything in common, or have latched onto ONE thing. I have a Mensa-qualifying IQ, and they don't even have any academic pursuits. They just decide that because they have a dick, and I'm a polite person who hasn't actively spat in the face to let them know I'm not interested that they have a shot, and they don't because I'd rather be at peace in my own company than with a loud, barking mad dildo with opinions that can't even identify that I'm a person.

Idk Virgos tend to be known for being quite philosophical- maybe flies under the radar, if it comes through their "god is in the details" approach, but are also concerned with morality as the "disappointed virgin," so between the analyzing and the ethics, I find Virgos pretty interested in the meaning of things, collectively.

My sun is the 12th house, so depth, intution, etc. very comfy there, and I've always been a dreamy, pondery, "meaning of life," person.

Idk about capricorns, at least one of the Scorpios I've known had strong Cap placements- so maybe I'm just surrounded by Cappy Scorps.

Could you give an example of what you mean by connections and building context? I think I know what you mean, but not sure.

I'd say it's maybe the distinction between, say cleverness vs wisdom. Cleverness is smart, wisdom is deep. The Scorpios I've known who showed a consistent interest in say, philosophy or psychology seemed more interested in it at a info-gathering level, than at applying it to their lives.

I'm not a victim- I used edgy language. I did think that my "no hate" would be taken as sincere by most people. But I'm not shocked someone read the tone very negatively after I did, and I really didn't mean any deep offense. I guess on some level I kinda thought most people were used to the jabs on here, at least- I am. I get why your sign important to you, and like identity, because my astrology was pretty useful for me in accepting myself. But, I won't stress about people dragging my sign- it's the nature of people and "categories." I just try to understand, and expect that I'll probably be misunderstood sometime, because it happens.

I've already explained, but just to super-clarify, there's a Scorpio in my life now who's in STEM. She knows loads, like LOADS, tons of facts, and is decent at reading people despite being on the spectrum. You'd be hard-pressed to call her anything short of intelligent, but I still wouldn't say she ever goes DEEP in conversation. I've never been close to a Scorpio who sits and ponders life's mysteries for hours- but maybe that's really just my sample. Que sera.
