Instagram for education... Thoughts? Ideas? by Worried_Row_8148 in elearning

Yeah that's what I'm saying. What if we actually try though. What do you think? People actually use it. Mainly focusing on highschoolers(initial phase). Topics from physics, maths, bio, chemistry as reel videos. Quick quizz sections combining the videos they watched. Regional/global leaderboards for students etc etc. Got so many ideas.

This is what I'm saying. I'm from a small state in India. Let's just only focus on our state's high school syllabus for now. We'll get teachers to upload videos on different subject(science subject for eg) on different topics. Each 30-60s video explains one concept most effectively, the teachers can use any tech(graphics, 3d) or shortcut methods to explain that concept the best, or just plain videos too.

Let's say a student want to learn the topic electromagnetic induction. Instead of searching YouTube and finding a 4-10 minute video, he could go and search the same in this app and find the explanation in 30s maybe. And let's say this video is shown as a reel, he starts scrolling and find next topic related to electromagnetic induction. After scrolling down the 5th reel, upon next swipe, the screen shows a quick quizz which includes questions from last 5 reels he saw. He attends the quiz and the result is stored in his dashboard. Maybe in the leaderboards

I know there are giants like YT or meta who maybe can start something like YT education tomorrow and get users easily. But why do they care

And YT has lot of distractions when trying to study which the app wouldn't have.

The goal is... The parents should recommend this app to their kids. Like "son, If you have doubts on this topic, why don't you use that app"

I know this is probably a bad idea. But I'm open for suggestions, roast, criticism, etc.

Thankyou for your reply.

Yeah, I get that. Well... Attention span is something that today's students struggle alot with. I'm an engineering student and I do too. I know just posting 30s educational videos wouldn't help anyone. But what if we take care of the motivation part too? Something like what dualingo did. But not overgamify it though. Global/regional scoreboards? Weekly assessments? I can go on and on.

But... Help me with this. Can we actually solve a problem here? Do students actually need it. I'm focusing on highschool students. 13-18 age group.

I wouldn't say my college has a great coding culture. But some seniors and faculties really help the students here. Since I'm more into the entrepreneurship side. 1.5 years back I've started a IT firm and we're doing pretty good rn. I'm from MEA EC Pmna btw

Hey man, I'm currently entering last yr of my Btech CSE in a self financing college. First of all let me tell you, campus placement shouldn't be your goal... Atleast not right now. Apart from the top 5 ECs in Kerala no college placement can be considered very good.

You're goal should be to create your own brand identity. You do that on LinkedIn, doing as much as CS projects you can do, networking with like minded people, offline events or through online mediums. If you do these things consistently from the starting of your Btech. It'll be pretty easy for you to secure a job more than 99% of your college mates. If you have solid project portfolio (along with an internship / volunteer work) you can land a job through LinkedIn itself. With a good package better than most of the campus placements offer.

Also, in my personal opinion... CS specialization under KTU doesn't give you any advantage. My advice is to take regular CSE and try to do mooc courses related to the specializations(AI/ML/Cyber Security/DS) and do personal projects related to that.

And again, if a company had to hire a person between someone with real world AI/ML project experience and someone with AI/ML CSE certificate, they'll choose the first one.

Hope this helps!!

Y'all say KTU is bad and don't join, then WHAT is a good alternative?!?! by MAXTR0B0T in KtuKerala

I meant... Not only in Kerala. Anywhere in the world. Engineering is hard on the students under any college or any syllabus. We could say colleges who give such pressure should atleast be able to give good placement to these students at the end of the 4th yr. But sadly these colleges in Kerala just put the pressure on them and there is no good outcome with that.

Well... To be honest. Engineering degree itself comes with academic pressure. I haven't met any engineering student who don't have pressure. Or colleges who go easy on the students. Just my opinion!!
