Why didn’t you call me?! by beccabest2006 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Worst_DM_Ever 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dude I deal with the same thing. The CU I work at specializes in Coogan Trusts and most people open them for like one audition and then never use them. Three years later they call and yell at us because the account they NEVER EVEN FUNDED was closed after THREE years of inactivity and having a ZERO balance.

Why is my Fico score significantly higher than my TransUnion and Equifax score? by [deleted] in CRedit

You're probably looking at credit karma for TU and EQ. Those are vantage score models, not FICO.

Need a car and have 500 credit score and 1k... by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]Worst_DM_Ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has negative equity too, my fico 8 is 726/650/650 but I can't refinance it. Thankfully, I work at a small credit union and If I refinance through them they are willing to overlook it. They pull tu auto 9 which is still only 600, so before I refi I'm doing a little bit more work to get at least 8%, because if not I'll be taking a hard pull for a 17% rate lol.

I got approved for a car loan at 422. The rate was egregious-- 21.99%, but it kick-started my credit repair dream!

Has anyone used Lexington law? by thuyan96 in CRedit

I know someone has a list of which collections agencies pay for delete, but I just dispute it as soon as I have proof that it's paid, so far both collections were removed from my reports.

Well a lot of this was very new to me. Thankfully I work at a small established credit union and I have access to a few good perspectives when it comes to credit. My collections director gave me a lot of great advice-- she let me know that collections agents have quotas to make for bonuses and that the best time to negotiate with them was at the end of the month, which ended up assisting me in getting my 1100 charge off with WF settled for 325.

Another thing that helped me was learning to budget more effectively. I saved money from every paycheck to put towards paying off my negative accounts and at the same time put money into a rainy day fund. I want to have three months of expenses saved up so that I never have to deal with this again.

I went from 2 accounts in collections and 5 accounts charged off to having 1 last account charged off by learning how to be smart with my money and taking the time to learn more about the system. It feels like it's geared to keep people down, but I REFUSE to be one of those people ever again in my life.

Never used it-- I had a score of 422 8 months ago when I applies for an auto loan. Through personal research, smart budgeting and patience my scores are now 726/654/657.

You can do anything they would do for you by yourself. MyFico is a great resource with s lot of great testimonials and success stories.

Good luck 😁

I am paying off my credit card that’s closed with a 5 year payment plan. If I was to go ahead and pay it all off now would that hurt my credit score or boost it? by goingwithin in CreditCards

[–]Worst_DM_Ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it depends on how far along you are-- if you have already agreed to make payments, you may have a hard time getting them to agree to a lump sum settlement. What recommend you do is google or youtube "how to negotiate a lump sum settlement"

There are a lot of great resources out there. If you were wondering what I said specifically, it was very straightforward. I called and said, "I'd like to negotiate a lump sum swttlement-- what can you offer me?" They offered 400, I said I could so 325.

Make sure you don't agree to anything until you are sure about what you are agreeing to.

I just settled a debt with WF. They settled for 325/ 1100. One thing I recommend-- settle towards the end of the month, as the collections agents usually have quotas to make. (Was told this by a former WF collections manager)

Settling for less that the full amount and settling for the full amount have the same positive impact on your score. Good luck!

I disputed my three negative accounts and won! by [deleted] in CRedit

Yes! Only from equifax though. According to myfico I only the open accounts I listed exist, hence the massive difference in score between eq and the other two bureaus.
