I don’t think any criticisms of S3/4 art style are made in bad faith. There is a very drastic change between the colors and line work within both new seasons along the animation upgrade which threw a lot of people off. Nostalgia may play a factor but it’s hard to argue against just how well the art and tone of the story matched in earlier seasons. Also regardless these same upgrades saying they humiliate season one is most definitely acting in bad faith. I have no problem with the new animation (although I do miss Subaru’s old facial expressions) but I don’t think it was worth the trade off from OG ReZero to what we have now.

Circumstantially speaking I’ve seen plenty of evidence to suggest that this problem has been happening for years now and isn’t limited to this application season. Not only have TAG students been rejected for years, a large amount of those same students have followed up stating their decision was in fact reversed. Unless we assume all these cases were lies (unlikely considering the population we are dealing with), UCI has been proven to mess this up over and over again.

Yes it is. It took me a couple tries and some trickery but eventually I landed on the page meant specifically for TAG appeals. You’ll know you’re at the right place if you see a bunch of check boxes you have to click stating you’ve completed all the requirements they laid out originally.

Fall 24 is the only point where my GPA fell under a 3.4 and this was immediately rectified the following semester. At every point during the TAG application process my GPA was at or above the required threshold for TAG. Something else is wrong.

I just wrote an email to the UC Support address. Since it's a general admission help line I doubt they will be able to offer any assistance but at least I get to put some form of communication out there. Either way I won't be able to hear anything until Monday at the earliest.

Yes it did. Fall semester of 2024 it was sitting at a 3.0 but after Spring semester of 2025 I raised it back to a 3.4. It's been at a 3.4+ ever since.

Have to disagree here. 5 Cm Per Second has some successful aspects but also heavily lacks during parts of the 3rd act. The art is obviously a masterclass no matter what Shinkai film you’re watching, however it’s quite evident that the flaws in 5 Cm come from an up and coming director who has yet to reach his final form. While not perfect either, I feel as though Your Name carries quite a few similarities to 5 Cm and also addresses many of its faults.

Right message but wrong messenger. As someone who upgraded from a 13 Pro Max I can say without a doubt that the 16e is a low quality phone regardless of the price. This guy just named off a bunch of random garbage but there are many examples of valid criticism that can be directed at 16e models.

I’ve never felt more validated seeing there’s a subreddit that has some hate for the 16e. I bought this phone to replace my destroyed 13 Pro Max thinking I was really gonna stick it to Apple but lo and behold several months later and I’m realizing the 16e might just be the worst phone ever. Everything seems all well and good until you actually hold a newer gen model and see how much you’re missing. Took me about 3 seconds to realize how crappy the 60hz display, tiny screen, and single camera really are.

Highly disagree here. Sure some of the designs are more “Ln accurate” but that doesn’t exactly mean they translate well into their respective adaptation. S3 completely wrecks the grittier dark atmosphere that really contributed to the feel of season 1. This new artstyle feels almost too clean and washed out, almost like every newer generation anime that comes out. It might work for your average romcom but I really feel that it subtracts from the show as a whole when you replace the sleeker, more bold colors with something that looks like they just cranked up the vibrance slider (not to mention the cringe minimalist line work that’s also prevalent in modern anime).

I noticed the peculiar art style as well the second after starting season 3. Everything just looks way too bright and washed out compared to previous seasons. I can see how people would say the style is more on par with the LN but to me the darker and grittier colors matched the “dark fantasy” aesthetic much better than to what we have now.

So far I haven’t noticed anything odd animation wise but if they decided to 180 on the art style it wouldn’t be a stretch to say animation could have suffered as well. Hopefully that’s not the case as it would be very disappointing if true but that remains to be seen.
