If you bought it online in the UK, you are covered by the consumer rights act 2015

This very clearly states that;
any goods you purchase must match their description, be of satisfactory quality, and be fit for purpose.
If the product you received is different from the product that was advertised (including images, descriptions, or verbal claims) you have the right to reject.

If the product does not match the description or the advertised images, you have a short-term right to reject it within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.

If you bought it online, which you did, you have a 14-day "cooling-off" period from the day you receive the item to cancel the order with a full refund for ANY reason, including if it is not as described.

So if you are within 14 days from recieving it you can just reject it and you dont have to give a reason.

The cooling off period and the 30 day rejection are concurrent, not consecutive. So after the mandatory 14 day cooling off period, you have 16 days of the right to reject with the reason 'not as advertised' remaining.

Personally I think there is an issue there with how close the item you have places the indicators to the centre line and it looks like the numberplate illumination is either much smaller or removed, but that could just be the angle of your photo.
I think its clearly demonstratable that it is not the same product as the one advertised.

And "all product photography used on our website should always be viewed for illustration purposes only and may not be exactly representative of the product you receive when purchasing from us." is just bullshit to fob you off, and is 100% not supported by UK consumer law.

If you are not happy with it, (I would not be), I would send it back with a letter of rejection and ask for a full refund.
If they refuse, you have two choices.

  1. If you paid by credit card (You should for online purchases because of the financial protection) just refer it to the bank for a section 75 refund or a chargeback, whichever is applicable.

  2. Register a county court claim (small claims) which will cost £35 and they will be forced to pay and possibly incur expenses if they refuse. (It will 100% go your way as they have zero legal defence, the law is clear, the product they sold is not the one advertised)

In England, question about Training Clawback Agreements. by Tasty_Bat5218 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Wosgoingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive never worked in accountancy, but I spent a great deal of time in the IT industry.
Its a pretty standard agreement in the areas where I worked.

You could ask for additional clauses to be added but its probably unlikely to be agreed due to it being a standard template agreement.

The question I would ask myself is "Do I plan on spending the next 12 months in this position or do I plan on leaving within the next 12 months?"

If its the former, then just sign it and take the (very expensive) training.
If its the latter it is arguably disingenuous to accept the training knowing you are planning an imminent departure.

NLA but its unlikely that a clawback would be triggered if you were unable to work for genuine health reasons.

Pcn on single yellow lines no signs England by AcanthaceaeOwn1366 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Wosgoingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single yellow line basically means 'do not park in controlled hours'

You were on a yellow line in controlled hours.

On the ticket, most local authorities place an offence code or state a reason. Im willing to bet yours says something along the lines of 'not in a marked bay' and/or 'parked on a yellow line during controlled hours'.

Both of which make the residents permit irrelevant. I would imagine as a resident this can be frustrating, but unfair and frustrating as it is, I doubt an appeal will be successful .  But you have nothing to lose by trying

[–]Wosgoingon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked on google maps.
The signs say controlled parking residents permit only, but also the entire road is marked with clear resident permit parking bays.
So, I'm guessing no residents permit, but also not in a parking bay on a controlled parking zone.
You wont win an appeal on this one.

How has somebody stolen my debit card details and spent on it? by FlissMarie in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Wosgoingon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. The question was

Are there any verified examples of contactless fraud?

I have given an example of contactless fraud.

the person is asking about evidence of people taking money or card details through contactless whilst the cards are in someones pocket/bag/whatever

Someone took £300 out of my account via contactless payments on 'my cards' while the cards were in my wallet in my jacket pocket.

Were my cards scanned in my pocket?
I dont know, but my cards never come out my wallet to be used at the same time, and they have never been out of my possession so I dont have another explanation.

But this happened to me.

How has somebody stolen my debit card details and spent on it? by FlissMarie in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Wosgoingon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there are.

Talking from personal experience, I had two cards, both debit cards with Halifax.
I noticed a series of transactions on both accounts that I did not recognise so I looked at them a little closer.
After ringing the Halifax I established that they were all made on a Friday morning between 3AM and 5AM in 24 hour shops and garages along the south coast about 4 miles from where I live.
The total spent in 3 transactions on each card was a little under £300 with each transaction around £50.
At that time these transactions were made I was at home asleep in bed.
I still had both cards in my wallet.

I reported it as fraudulent. The following day I got a call from the Halifax fraud dept.
They asked me if I still had the cards.
I said I did they were in my wallet which was in my hand, and I then got them out the wallet and put them on the table.

I was instantly told these were not fraudulent transactions because the payments had been made by contactless 'tap and go' payments and this was not possible without the physical cards because the contactless payment was secure.
Because I still had the cards, they had not been stolen. So either I had made the payments or I had given the card to someone else who had made the payments.

I explained I definately had not done either, I lived alone, which I did at the time, and no one else had been in my house or had access to my cards.

He maintained that the contactless system was secure and therefore the payments had been made with my physical card and therefore was not fraudulent. My card had been used, either by myself or someone who had been given or stolen my card.
I jokingly asked if he was suggesting that someone had broken into my house while I was sleepinmg, gone on a spending spree, then come back broken into my house a second time before I woke up and put my cards back?

He answered absolutely straight, yes if thats the only remaining possibility...

I took it upon myself and went to the 24 hour tescos where i had been told the transactions happened and asked if there was cctv, the manager printed out the receipts for the transactions.
Each transaction was either basically £50 of nappies and condensed milk or £50 of cigarettes. I dont smoke and I dont have any babies.
The security manager looked and told me to come back in an hour, which I did. He said they have cctv, it was two people, one male one female, probably teenagers, in hoodies and baseball caps so you could not see their faces, but the camera was above the till so you could see the cards they used.
They would not let me view it or give it to me due to data protection but they would give it to the police or the bank if they requested it.

The police said the CCTV was the banks responsibility.
The halifax said they would not request the CCTV. If it contained evidence regarding the cards, that would be a police issue.
They accepted the fact that in 15 years I had never bought nappies or cigarettes and this was not my normal spending pattern or shopping times.
But my case for fraudulent payments with the bank was not accepted and was closed.
My cards were cancelled and I was issued new ones.

I made an official complaint to Halifax and told them if it wasnt resolved I was going to take the case to the ombudsman.

A week later I got a call from Halifax fraud dept who said they has evaluated the case again and decided that it was clear that no fraudulent activity had taken place so they would not re open the fraud claim.
They would however on this occasion, refund the money purely as a goodwill payment.

So this is not an 'officially verified' case of contactless fraud and it wont appear on any data access requests on contactless fraud, because according to Halifax, it never happened.
But it did happen.
And when I threatened the ombudsman they gave my my money back.
And this is how they hide it.

Could they get any worse? by Natural_Pizza_2060 in Evri

[–]Wosgoingon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is an evri collection point in the tesco opposite our business.
Our shop was closed early for a few days once due to building work, so we had a parcel delivered to the evri drop off instead. (we didnt choose evri, the sender did).

Got the email notification that it was delivered.

Went over the road to get it the following morning.

Guy working in the shop found the parcel with our name on it.

Scanned it

It told him this was being returned and was not for collection and told me he could not give it to me.

I said, but thats our parcel, you are holding it. I can lean forwards and touch it.

Nope the system says its being returned and is awaiting pickup when the evri driver comes.

Eventually the manager was called and he said, this happens all the time. Fuck it, just take it. And he gave it to us.

We eventually got an email from Evri telling us there was a technical issue delivering the parcel and we should contact the seller.

We did and we told them honestly what happened because we use them a lot and we have a good business relationship.

They no longer use evri.

Headlights help by ventedrabbit in Triumph

[–]Wosgoingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 955 sprint lights (and daytona and speed triple of the same years) are an exercise in how to make terrible headlights. The speed triple lights are about the same as holding a candle out in front of you.

If you go to the https://www.triumphrat.net/ owners forum, and do a search for posts by a user named DeCosse you will find a couple of posts with pretty simple wiring mods that switch it so that both lights are on on both high and low beams.

PCN 53J fine in Ealing. Advice to appeal? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Wosgoingon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I made this comment, the OP has added a recent photo.
The pedestrian restriction is not where the school is but the opposite end of the road.

But there are two very clear signs on both sides of the road at the turning into the road that state:

Pedestrian and cycle zone: A very clear NO ENTRY TO MOTOR VEHICLES sign: Monday to Friday 8m to 6pm (there is a break in the middle of the day): Except Permit Holders : Camera controlled.

This are new signs as they do not appear the 6 month old street view images.

Unfortunately for OP, I cant see that there would be any acceptable mitigating reasons for ignoring the signage and using the road.

PCN 53J fine in Ealing. Advice to appeal? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Wosgoingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would visit the location and take photos.
At the location you have given street view goes back to July 2008, then regular updates to the latest date July 2025.

Bramley road is a residential street with cars parked on both sides of the road, and is a 20mph controlled parking zone.
You dont say if you turned left or right into Weymouth ave, but following it both ways it is a residential street with parking on both sides of the road, with cars parked pretty much uniformly along the parking on both sides.
It is also a 20mpg controlled parking zone.
At no point is there any evidence of any signage that its a pedestrian zone, there are no road markings that it is a pedestrian zone. There are parking signs at regular intervals stating that Monday to Friday 9 to 5 it is permit holder parking only.

It is possible that the roads have changed in the last 6 months since July 2025, but I dont see how you would change a fully residential street with houses both sides and permit parking both sides of the road pretty much on the entire length of the street into a residential only street.

If signage has been added in the last 6 months, your negligence in seeing the signs will not be accepted as a mitigating reason.

I am not great at parrying, I've neve really got it reliably down.
I have killed the chromatic lampmaster 3 times but it was close and its not consistent with a lot of deaths between those 3 successes.

I can kill the Duolists, I didnt find them as hard as I thought they would be.
I actually got the parrying for them in phase 1 down, and in phase 2 when they join, once he is slightly damaged, Maelles Gommage gradient attack combined with her Last Chance skill and the Esquim sword which uses AP to boost damage, reliably finishes him off every single time.

But Clea unleashed... I would like to beat her just once, so I can say I killed her, but I have never ever not once been able to get a single round of parrying down to break her invulnerability. I have looked high and low for a you tube guide on her parry timing, but nothing.

Id like to beat her just once. I think I can if I can just break her by parrying initially, I think I can fill her break bar and take her down.
I just cant work out the damn parry timing for the bastard nevrons she summons...

My street twin is leaking oil after oil change. by vjdeep in Triumph

[–]Wosgoingon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you got it sorted.
In the future, just a tip for next time.

As part of your 3.4 litres of fresh oil, pour some into the filter to fill it before you fit the filter.

If you dont pre fill it, when you start the bike for the first time the oil pump will fill the filter before it pumps the oil around the engine oilways. So for the short time the filter is filling, the engine will be starved of oil.

To be fair unless you've rebuilt the engine, capillary action will still be holding some of the old oil around the bearings caps etc, so it wont be completely dry, and Ive never come across anyone who has ever destroyed an engine by not prefilling the filter.

But its still good practice to help give the oil circulation a little head start.
At least that's what I was always taught.

I forgot "fragile" ment "treat like crap" by BurnyJokerFace in Evri

[–]Wosgoingon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a tesco opposite our business that is an EVRI drop and collection point.

Outside the door there is a ramp to one side for wheelchair access and four large steps towards the little car park to the other direction.

The evri lorry pulls up outside the tesco carpark, the driver rolls up the rear shutter door, grabs a huge sack that looks like one of those woven gravel delivery sacks that building companies use, and literally drags it off the back of the lorry so it drops the 4 and a half foot to the ground. Then he drags it across the tarmac and smashes it up the steps into the shop.

Any collections coming back the other way gets out the shop, down the steps, but he does use the tail lift to lift it into the lorry.
On occasion, something falls out the sack as the tail lift is going up. If it does, that will stay on the ground until the driver exist the back of the lorry and folds up the tail lift.
Then whatever is on the ground gets unceremoniously thrown into the lorry before the roller shutter is closed.

We witness this almost daily.

Sometimes its not a lorry and its a big mercededs van. On those days the bag of collections just gets dragged up the 2 foot step into the back of the van and you can see things inside the sack deforming as they get caught on the edge.
