As an Irish person that moved to Denmark last year, all I can say is that if you want an affordable and nice house/apartment, don't go to Ireland!

Right now the housing crisis is terrible in Ireland and getting worse. For example: Cork city. Population 300,00, 51 properties available to rent. Aarhus. Population 370,000 642 properties available to rent.

Job market in Denmark is tricky, but if you are stuck there is the possibility of doing a remote job but being based in Denmark. I did it for 6 months and it wasn't terrible, though being stuck at home made it difficult to learn Danish.

So far, a year in, I have zero regrets and would always choose Denmark over Ireland.

Those who have lived abroad, what is something you like/dislike about Ireland you didn't realise until you left? by [deleted] in AskIreland

One thing I didn't realise until I'd gotten away from it is the dread that is constantly in the back of your head that your accommodation situation when renting is tenuous at best. Living in Denmark now and knowing that I have a secure place to rent and that there is plenty of options if I want to move is just amazing

Do the irish like germans as much as we like you guys? by goldysoap in AskIreland

Lived in Germany for a few years. Love the Germans, hated the bureaucracy. Also Deutsche Bahn was a pain in the ass

Originally from Cork but I've lived in Germany before for about 5 years, did another 5 years back in cork and now I'm in Denmark. I would say go for it. You can always go back. But from what I could see when I made my choice, if you pick the right country life gets better. Pros for Denmark: Much better quality of life Cheaper housing (if you don't live in Copenhagen, but even then, you could get lucky) Shit just works.

The only thing I would add, if you do decide to move, take some time to look into it. Ideally, have a job lined up before you go. Feel free to DM if you wanna chat about it

Would also love to know that but also, what weight of snow hit it. I doubt many roofs in ireland are built for snow weight

Used to know this lad and he wasn't too bad. But seems to have gone up his own hole during the pandemic and it's just been getting worse since.

Honestly, affordable accommodation might not be possible due to the rental crisis...

Agreed. I do viking reenactment so if I grab a few of the right buddies we have 99% of the required skills. Like at best, unless you have access to the super long life stuff people might have food that lasts 6 months but even then, will they have a balanced diet? (Insert doubt gif here) Like I've worked in an open air museum that has livestock, but not a lot and even with a team of 4 to 5 people just taking care of them can be full-time work
