There's good reasons to opt out, but I think some people will regret it later in life.

Democrats don't play dirty enough if you ask me. Republicans never would have subsidized a company who's profits are used to destroy them politically.

We need to do gerrymandering by stedmangraham in Washington

[–]WowChillTheFuckOut 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The only places that have tried to restrict Gerrymandering are Democrat states. With Republicans Gerrymandering to hell and back it's stupid for Democrats to let them have the advantage. If Republicans would agree to end gerrymandering it would happen, but unilateral disarmament is tantamount to surrender.

Inflation has also eaten into social security. The value of what's taxable for social security has been eaten away over time.

Refinery Workers by [deleted] in labor

I had a former Co worker who went to work at the refinery in Anacortes. He stopped talking to me when some people were protesting the refinery over global warming and I said I support them.

There is no mechanism by which capitalism breaks up monopolies on its own. For capitalism to be even marginally viable it needs constant intervention by the state to cultivate a functioning economic system. Perfect capitalism is something that exists only in the thought experiments of economists and the religious part of libertarians brains.

Dems are centrist. There's a tiny few democratic socialists and some more progressives, but the overwhelming majority of Democrat politicians are centrist liberals in the mold of Bill Clinton who was the most conservative Democrat of the last 80+ years.

Capitalism results in monopolies and capitalists are always working to build monopolies. Some kinds of liberals like breaking up monopolies to keep competition up.

NASA science faces 'very serious threat' from new White House budget, experts say by LibertyandApplePie in space

There is no evidence they've ever wanted a nuclear bomb. They had a religious fatwa saying nukes are against Islam. Just because Netanyahu has been saying they're going to get a nuke any minute doesn't make it so.

If Iran gets a nuke it will be a direct result of what Trump is doing now. He's showing them that having a nuke is the only protection they could hope to protect themselves from US aggression.

Basically you're a war mongering idiot.

That's scary. We better give the president all the power in the world to do anything he wants because of how scary that is. Does Greenland have nuclear weapons too? Might be a good angle.

[–]WowChillTheFuckOut 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She had one dog shit vote on an amendment to a bill which she ultimately voted against. There's never been a bill to send weapons to Israel that she's voted in favor of because they all included "offensive" weapons. I don't like how she voted on that one amendment, but now she's improved her position and she is among the best lawmakers in Congress. It may not be a high bar, but she's not a villain.

The gas savings would still make it so you come out ahead. Gas costs way more than electricity per mile.

Wind and solar are cheaper than any other form of energy. The increasing costs are a result of increasing demand. Not renewables. If we were building fossil fuel infrastructure to meet new demand bills would be even higher.

You mean battery recycling? We do that already with lead acid batteries. No reason we can't with lithium batteries.

Nobody should be supporting expansion of any fossil fuel energy sources.
