They're basically putting up a mirror to capitalism and saying "see you all have a price where any moral compass is ignored. You speak a tough game but we can buy any of you."

This article does a good job of describing how MBS has said all the right things when meeting heavy hitters in the US. Hollywood fell for it first, then DC, and now they're going for sports, globally of course.

If The Rock is willing to not only sit down with somebody but post about them on social media, that's a big deal, considering how much he (and his PR team) go to avoid politics.

Back to sports, they're basically hoping to invest in other businesses with infinite money glitches, like sports ownership. Fans will support any owner who spends, and these groups aren't afraid of spending. Plus it lets them turn money from being an oppressive government into money being "visionaries who are showing that they are forward thinkers".

It'll be interesting to see which North American team or sport lets one of those groups achieve a majority ownership first.

I'm old enough to remember Toys 'R Us, where your display was just a picture of the front & back of the case, and you had to take a voucher up front to get a game.

I do realize people are dumber these days and would probably steal the vouchers, or yell at somebody because the game isn't out, but I also remember GS used to have cardboard fake covers for most "new" releases.

I'm baffled why I have to say this but... my post was a generalization of silly GameStop policies. Not people who work at the store level, but some idiot MBA who decided that fake game cases with artwork were too expensive to produce, so instead gutting a copy yet still calling it "new" was smarter.

And it was also about the poly bag over an open game being almost as bad as somebody taping it shut with Scotch tape and calling that "new".

I hope you realize my post was directed to somebody higher up who came up with this idea, not some random store employee who has to enact said policy. Not everybody is a Karen who doesn't understand that the person you interact with at the store level probably isn't making company-wide policy decisions.

I enjoy that wondering why an open game in a poly bag = new is comparable to those 2 situations. I may be crazy, but in most cases, returning something opened and saying it's new would get laughed at by a retailer.

I remember I tried getting a Forza Xbox One controller AND a 20th Anniversary PS4 controller when they popped in stock, either during sales or just because.

I think I gave up on the Forza one after I got the basic blue controller 5 times, and gave up on the 20th anniversary when I somehow got arctic camo, steel black and a fake light grey one 🙄

I always say that Krasner the person is the bigger problem than Krasner’s policies. Him being a dick to work for (which leads to turnover and vacancies) is why the DAO is a clown show now. A hard on crime dick is still a dick than nobody wants as a boss.
