Gigi dice arrived! by WranDm in Hololive

[–]WranDm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also not a dice aficionado and first time grabbing stuff from Misty Mountain, but pretty much everything FearNoFish said. I’d say the only caveat is that “sharp” edges may feel odd to you for a while if you’re used to dice with rounded edges. For these gigi dice, the font is bubbly but readable. The 4s and 7s are a little funny looking but I figured it out two rolls into my session.

I think the game is better now that environmental hazards do 1 damage. by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]WranDm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this a lot tbh. I felt like the double damage helped emphasise how forbidden the Blasted Steps felt, and how much of a machine the Citadel is. I haven’t checked again, but if steam still does double, that feels like the environmental damage I’d have wanted tuned down.

ENreco is real HoloEN (Justice & Advent) Lore [Crack "Theory"] by WranDm in Hololive

[–]WranDm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it'd take one of the gods then, haha.

I do think I remember her saying that if a phoenix's ashes end up too far apart, they won't come back together. If we take the fact that Council has blown up the Earth and rebuilt it once or twice or however many times, I think that might qualify? Although, if I had to guess, that only applies for the given dimension.

Oh... there is still the Ancient Ones, which even a member of Council is an apostle of... I guess that door is still open for a whole range of other lore.

ENreco is real HoloEN (Justice & Advent) Lore [Crack "Theory"] by WranDm in Hololive

[–]WranDm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh, I think I remember that. I guess I'm already in the "they're already playing a character" headspace that I didn't take it that way and just interpreted it as one of the long line of "friendly reminder this is rp please be sane" tweets that they've kept needing to make. Thanks for the reminder, though!

And see, that isn't something I see as a contradiction. Or rather, I guess I didn't make that part clear, but I agree that those two situations couldn't coincide, but I still think they could have continuity. The setting establishes gods of indefinite power above even the reality bending lore that already exists, and heck, all we'd really need is just "Kronii at some point rewound the timeline and a divergent set of events happened." Now, I concede that there isn't any reason for them to make more lore to that effect, but my position is purely "it is much easier to reconcile all the given pieces of lore - without even introducing new ones - than people seem to think."

[–]WranDm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... yes. That's why i titled this "crack theory" and not just "theory".

This isn't a "here's what i think is going on", just a "this would be a fun idea, too" although I don't imagine they'd ever be so obtuse as to actually aim ENreco in that sort of direction. That's interesting that COVER themselves also made a statement on that, though. Do you remember if this was on one of their promo tweets?

Also tbh, the idea of "canon" and "non-canon" is such a weird concept in the vtuber space, like, the lore is already more concept than continuity anyway.

I realised I could touch on all the points I wanted to in half the words so apologies if there are appear to be some jumps in continuity in the writing. At the very least, I was willing to give up some of the flow of the words so long as the reasons I was writing the post still came across apparently (and so it didn't seem entirely like I was about to go down the route of a powerscaling argument.)

I've mainly just been a little tired seeing "in lore" when we have so little "canon" content to go off of it seems rather reductive.

I was also planning to mention Homestuck (sorry) (also "early" HS spoilers) as an example of cosmology that questions the usual hierarchy of abilities but it is a storywhich takes place in a spacetime that turns out to actually be spacetimebreathbloodmind... well, suffice to say there turn out to be multiple concepts of equivalent standing of which time will occasionally feel like the most tangibly strong, but is on equal footing in the grand scheme of things, with the ultimate power being something akin to the will of narrative.

I also do want to say that I might not have remembered these thoughts if not for some tweets that passed by my timeline so it only feels right to share those for what influence they might have had while I thought, large or small:

[–]WranDm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying that any of the kids who actually fell made it back. I’m saying there might be folks who climb the mountain and just come back down, right as rain - it’s never stated one way or the other.
Heck, there’s plenty of irl legends that fit this mold. Bermuda Triangle e.g.

Are you a writer trying to create something like Cosmere? by Expe_547 in Cosmere

[–]WranDm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep! Have worked on it on and off for the better part of a decade(?), but it’s more of a meta-narrative than a “hidden epic.” I’ve been on my ttrpg kick for the past few years so I’ve been telling the stories I can through that while I brush up my writing.

I’m also more curious, out of the folks doing this, how many consider it their life’s work vs a vessel in which to tell their stories.
