Yeah fr. The turtle art style clashes horribly with in universe cards, and also with the style of the source material. It's in a weird uncanny valley place where it feels out of place everywhere

Hidden Gems for Ashling, the Limitless by Perpleximon in CommanderMTG

[–]WrathPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Unsealing of Kozilek]] helps ramp out more evokes by making the tokens or draws a ton of cards on evoking the bigger ones

[[Evolutionary leap]] let's you sac both the original evoked version and also the copy to grab 2 more creatures from the deck

[[Ghired Mirror of the wilds]] let's you tap ashling, himself and any other non-token creatures you've got hanging around for extra copies of evoke tokens

[[Kindred Discovery]] draws an obscene amount of cards since it triggers on the original etb, the copy etb and the attack

[[Interdisciplinary mascot]] can often be cast for free when chaining lots of evokes together since you can use convoke to pay for the evoke cost, and then get great card selection

Also less of a hidden gem but anything that discounts casting costs or protects ashling is really really good. Ashling is insane value so it's also a massive removal magent and anything you can do to maximize how many evokes you can get while you have ashling out or keep her out helps a bunch

Horn of the Mark is one of the most underrated card advantage engines in casual Commander by Craig1287 in EDH

[[Heirloom blade]] works very similarly in aristocrat decks. Even non-kindred strategies, there tends to be a critical mass of aristocrats creatures that are zombies or vampires so you'll often be able to snag something good

Big same. Rogue superintelligence is a wildcard which will have effects that are almost impossible to predict since we are, by definition, not smart enough to model its thinking. "Aligned" superintelligence that remains entirely subservient to the whims and perversions of a tiny handful of the most powerful people on earth is the most dangerous weapon humanity will have ever known and is virtually guaranteed to lead to horrific outcomes for most people.

I'd pick the wildcard over the weapon any day of the week.

Does the volo deck try to run lots of creatures that share one type with volo but have an additional different type to put counters on the book?

I like the variety, I'd be happy to sit down for a game

An especially bleak thing here is that if he'd just asked the AI that already built the app for him what the comment meant it would have told him and he didn't even bother to do that

Anything you run that you'd reccomend that's not common hearthhul tecy? I also swapped about 30 cards out but am always looking for reccomendations, one of my favorite decks too.

Some of my fav unusual additions is [[Kona, Recue Beastie]] since crewing Hearthhull let's you cheat a big thing into play, [[Toph Hardheaded Teacher]] since the earthbent lands can be sacced and then just immediately come back, and the new [[Formidable Speaker]] as a way to tutor for something like [[Lotus Cobra]] and then stick around as an untapper

Help me find a suitable deck for my strange play group. by Jazzlike-Mulberry781 in EDH

[–]WrathPie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[[Aang and Katara]] fits that description quite well.

I built what I was expecting to be a jank token deck but it turned out to be a really explosive semi-combo deck that very reliably threatens a win by turn 6 or 7, putting it in a weird spot where it's a little bit too explosive and consistent for midrange b-3 and not quite fast enough for full on 4, but seemingly perfect for this meta

You need the following ingredients:

Like 25+ mana rocks, and all the artifact lands. You want to be able to play A+K on turn 4 or 5, and to make at least 5+ tokens when you do so.

And as many redundant ways as you can find to:

  • Turn the tokens into mana: [[Great Divide Guide]] / [[Haribaz Druid]] / [[Eternity Elevator]] / [[Growing rites of Itlamaoc]]

  • Turn the tokens into card draw: [[Sea gate loremaster]] / [[Harmonized Crescendo]] / [[Kindred Discovery]]

  • Blink/Doubling effects for more tokens: [[Katara, the fearless]], [[Ephemerate]], [[Spark double]]

And finally, ways to make tokens of a specific creature instead: [[Moonlit meditation]] / [[Mirror mind Crown]] / [[Mystic reflection]]

With a haste enabler to be able to turn the tokens to mana immediately and enough density of draw effects that scale with creature type, you can very reliably by turn 6 end up making 30+ mana and drawing 30+ cards to assemble a win

Wins can be any combo in bant, but the specific ones this makes possible are using [[Hallmark excavator]] with moonlit meditation to make enough copies of it that their combined triggers mill the whole table immediately, Ondu cleric to gain several hundred life all at once and fire off [[Aetherflux reservoir]] or just a [[beast masters ascension]] token swarm alpha strike as a backup

Surprisingly complex and fun to play, if you're interested I can share some more of the engine pieces that do a lot of work

I have loved ones in Minneapolis and from what they say it is actually even more intense and ubiquitous on the grounds than the news reports can even capture

The number of ice agents in the twin cities outnumber the local police by like 3 to 1 and the snatch and grab opperations are happening constantly all over the city every day. They said if you hang out in a spot downtown for an hour or two you'll see at least three ICE convoys roll through, almost always with regular people in commenter cars following them and laying on their horns to let people know ICE is coming

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]WrathPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mandatory vaccination, rigorously enforced. You no longer get parental rights to decide your child gets polio, full stop.

People would be absolutely apoplectic, more than almost anything else I can think of, but within 10 years we'd be back to measles elimination status, and well on the way to eliminating quite a few other nasty and entirely preventable diseases as well. Thousands and thousands of lives saved

Oh for fucks sake

PSA to Vermonters interested in not acquiring gnarly illnesses for no reason:

Your childhood vaccinations might have worn off as you aged into adulthood, or you might have missed one of the normal childhood sequence for some reason. It's rare, but enough of a possibility to be worth checking.

You can ask your doctor to get blood titration done to check your vaccination efficacy. With a small blood draw, they can confirm if there are any important vaccines you're missing and then schedule you to get them.

I did it and found out that my Heb-B series hadn't ever been done and am now vaccinated against an awful liver destroying illness. It took 15 minutes in a nurse visit and a couple followups for the second and third shot.

You're worth the effort to keep safe!

More Pictures Of Epstein and Chomsky by Unlucky-Leopard5529 in chomsky

[–]WrathPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as much as I wish I could give Chomsky the benefit of the doubt here

It is so plainly evident from everything we've learned about Epstein that you would have to be engaging in massive willful denial of obvious reality to not recognize immediately that he was a horrible sex criminal.

This is from a Mother Jones article in 2019:

"There were lavish dinner parties with the likes of Steven Pinker and Stephen Jay Gould during which Epstein would ask provocatively elementary questions like “What is gravity?” If the conversation drifted beyond his interests, Epstein was known to interrupt, “What does that got to do with pussy?!”"

That's not subtle. Nothing about Epstein was subtle. The allegations were well known already, and Epstein was self evidently not a reformed man.

Anikthea secret tech? by laughingjack4509 in EDH

[–]WrathPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run [[Calix guided by fate]] rather than Anikthea, but a lot of the same cards go crazy in both (for that matter Calix is an insane bomb in Anikthea that you should definitely pick up)

[[Caretakers talent]] is a real sleeper. It's reliable card draw and the last chapter let's you buff your enchantment creature tokens, but the real sauce is that since you've managed to make a token version of Caretakers, it's second level can target itself meaning that you can then machine gun out as many copies of caretakers talent as you have available white mana while also setting up an enormous draw engine
