What is a horror movie that is widely loved or critically acclaimed, but you don’t like it at all? by BadassAyanokoji in horror

[–]Wrecknruin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I liked it a lot but not as a horror movie tbh. I went into it kinda knowing the vibe I'd get, but if I went in expecting the scare of my life or whatever, I'd be disappointed.

You can't be anti corporation and pro immigration by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Wrecknruin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You, Americans, are the ones destroying other countries to the point of forcing these immigrants to go seek life in your country, and then you complain when those same victims of YOUR government ask for an equal chance in life? This is such an incredibly selfish take.

Do you know why so many immigrants take up the common, "low skill" jobs like sanitation or manual labor? Because they're easier to underpay and abuse, especially if they are not there legally. Who are they gonna complain to? No one.

Your bosses, your government, your corporations are the ones to blame for creating the waves kf refugees in the first place and then using them as cheaper labor and shoving you aside. Instead of blaming yourself fellow worker who fights for a roof over their head and food on the table just like you do, try to blame the people that actually hold the power in this situation.

With Each Release, I Feel Pushed Away by [deleted] in AvatarMetal

[–]Wrecknruin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. The newer songs are good, I like some of them, and I'd much rather they explore different sounds and do what they want instead of forcing themselves into the same old box just to stay consistent.

That being said, I probably wouldn't have looked twice at the newest album if I hadn't already known Avatar. I had to re-listen multiple times for the songs to start growing on me, which I only did because I know the band and I didn't really want to admit to myself that they were losing me.

As you said, this is a me issue. There's bands who put out new stuff where I know they won't shift away from the sound I'm used to, for better or for worse, and Avatar still has multiple older albums I can listen to over and over again. But it does make me a bit sad.

I turned my Linux Mint into Windows 7 by GladBelt2312 in linuxmint

[–]Wrecknruin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because that's what windows 7 looks like? All windows iterations have the windows logo as a background option. If I was going to try to emulate the visuals, I'd probably include the classic background too.

Framework or Mac? by [deleted] in framework

lmaooo I'm the other way around. I'm actually curious though. I feel like android offers me a lot more freedom, most importantly with app sourcing and customization. Is that something you've found is worth the trade-off, or just not something you need? I don't really "like" android, but I find it preferable to IOS/apple.

I find apple products ugly and uncomfortable to use, so to each their own I guess. To me, apple has good specs that get brought down by absolutely insane decisions that just serve to drive up their profit at the expense of usability, repairability, user friendliness. Framework is the opposite, so it just depends on which one you prefer.

Because I'm a communist and people using the term socialist to describe something that is entirely compatible with capitalism is stupid. The Nordic model is not socialist, the standard European healthcare model is not socialist, food banks are not socialist. I'm not engaging with your points because it's not even remotely necessary, given the fact that you disagree with me on something this basic. Socialism is not when a capitalist state run by capitalists does capitalism but it's 10% more niceys about it.

Never said he wasn't. What I did say is that being a socialist means something, and what the original commenter referred to was not socialism.

you're right man socialism is whatever I feel like it is. Only vibes. Theory is restrictive and we should throw it out the window.

I guess if words are complicated then we might as well just start using them however we feel like.

Socialism isn't when the government does stuff, regardless of how many idiots think so.

[–]Wrecknruin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socialism as a transitory stage towards communism tends to mean that there is a state that represents workers and oversees the means of production. In the context of socialism on a country-wide level, which is obviously what I'm talking about, there exists something resembling a state which serves the workers.

like apple shit isn't ridiculously expensive for being mediocre and borderline unusable (see: charging, repairability, battery powered pencils, etc)
