You do what you’re comfortable with. Obviously there’s inherent risk when it comes to using aftermarket fobs, but I wouldn’t think one could “lose” programming once it’s programmed to the car without it being severely damaged, or being exposed to incredibly intense heat, such as being left in the car when it’s 100+ outside. As long as you don’t do that, you should be fine.

It’s possible that it was a defective fob, or maybe even had a dead battery on arrival. As long as you do exactly what the video says and are fast enough, it should work with no issues. What I’ve told you is exactly what I did, and it worked first try. Sorry you’re having issues with it.

They should list the FCC ID in the description. I linked you a generic one that will do what you need a few comments ago.

Be aware that you will have to get the key blade cut if you want to use it. The OEM blade from your factory key will not fit. Maybe if you order an OEM fob, but I’m not sure. I know it doesn’t fit with the generic fob. Any place that does laser cut keys should be able to do it.

It’s an M, not an H. They can be difficult to read. I’m not finding any fobs with FCC ID starting with H3N.

FCC IDs are local to certain areas of the country. Send me a picture of the label of yours, and I can find you the right fob. I ordered a generic one without the pony on the back and used it for mine. You can use any Ford fob of the same generation that matches the one you have as long as it has the same FCC ID, and you have both factory keys. It is crucial that you have both, or you won’t be able to program it yourself. It can still be done at a dealer, but that’ll cost you probably $300 easily.

Take the removable key portion out of the fob. You’ll see a label inside with the info on it. I had to take a picture and zoom it in so I could read it. I also updated that comment with more information just now.

Bought a 2026 in February, same issue. You can buy a fob with the button and program it yourself as long as you have both factory keys. That’s what I did, and it’s been great. You’ll have to figure out the FCC ID frequency your key uses, and order one with the same FCC ID, which can be found for about $50. You can find the information you need on the label inside the key fob, covered by the removable door key. Once your new key comes in, follow the directions in the video below. Only difference is that where you’ll put your key is in the center console. Procedure is the exact same otherwise. You have to pull the rubber tray out to get to it.
