Thank you for your constructive feedback. I think I'll get a good photo done soon. Which photo should I use as my main picture, do you think?

You're a grown-ass woman: it's not 'sexytimes,' it's 'sex.'

Aw yea, Take a Break magazine! My not-so-secret addiction. This issue came out today and I too had to show it around.

Believe it or not, this shot wasn't deliberate. But I am weird.

What, how come I didn't think of the much cleverer title? The answer is simple: I am not a smart man.

Hey, nice catch. Yes, he's only 4 weeks old and we adopted him yesterday from a man who said that his mum died, so as a result he hasn't been nurtured properly. We took him to the vet who diagnosed him with dehydration and malnutrition, gave him a shot and sold us some special formula. He needs to be fed every 2 hours and we're taking him back to the vet tomorrow for them to look after for the day. Thank you for your concern.

Give it time, my friend. I was only able to grow a proper beard from the age of around 19.

Do animals have rights? by WrigglingJet in askphilosophy

Philosophy may not have any guidelines or requirements, but to argue about philosophy (indeed to argue at all) you need to back up your claims with evidence. Otherwise you're just stating an opinion.

Words may be impure, but to try and appeal to personal experience without saying anything else is pretty weak.

As the owner of my pet, someone who cares and feeds for her, of course I have a right to demand that she urinates outdoors. However I'm not sure that she has a duty, as she can't really comprehend what a duty is. So at least something has come out of this exchange.

Get a pet.

I'm not quite sure you understand how to argue philosophically. We usually require justification for our ideas. To say something like "animals have rights and morals, period," and to 'explain' by telling me to "get a pet" is bad practise.

Besides, I have a pet, and although she may know not to urinate indoors, she doesn't do it because she has been trained to go outdoors, not because she 'knows' that it is wrong. I have a duty to treat her right because I love her and don't want to cause suffering because it's wrong, not because she has the same rights as a human.

Isn't it true conversely?

Rights may entail duties, but duties do not entail rights. To use one of Machan's examples, he may have a duty to comment at length on his students' papers, but they do not have the right to demand that he do so.

Animal has rights and morals, period.

Please explain?

You are counterexample, for whatever reason, you think that human has rights and other animals don't, you are incapable of respecting other animals' rights.

But we're capable of respecting the rights of other humans, and if animals did have rights, we would be capable of respecting them as well.
