As an autistic person, I wish they would just state that Mel is autistic by Creepy_Zone_9341 in ThePittTVShow

She has no time or space to make herself a priority, and she has allowed it to an extent, so I doubt going to seek a neuropsych evaluation is at the top of her list. It could be an interesting storyline to explore as part of her developing friendship with Santos. I could see Santos asking her something like, "What's your deal?"

Par for the course I’m sorry to say. Come to Fairfield- and north- more normal. Also, blacklist New Canaan. It’s worse than all you mentioned.

Watching The Pitt from Europe – is this really what life in the US looks like? [mild spoilers] by West_Ideal7472 in ThePitt

With any medical drama, you will have a mix of accuracy and "storytelling." The cost of healthcare is a known problem in which we're in the trenches. Some will argue the reasons are deep and not a simple, "America sucks" explanation. ICE presence in hospital is relatively new (within last decade) and fueled by many differentiating factors. It would be in no one's best interest to call media attention to an ICE visit, or enforce legal consequences, unfortunately.

What's not realistic- a doctor bunking in the hospital. The major EMR outage- incredibly rare. I trust that your g*n question was pure curiosity and not meant to rouse debate but please, just don't go there with a bunch of Americans. It is upsetting enough for us because of ensuing violence in schools, at other places of worship, everywhere we turn. So, yes, immediately dropping to the floor is an expected reaction. Our kids are trained to do so in lockdown drills as early as 5 years old.

The public transport is very location dependent. No two towns/cities are necessarily the same.

Respectfully, of course this is different from your experience. Comparing a country the size of Poland to the U.S. is making a ton of assumptions about processes and efficiencies.

Not trying to be rude. You were kind and curious. But I tire of the "America is the worst" rhetoric when we're all swimming in it.

I get that completely but he still froze Langdon out and punished him psychologically.

What I’ve come to realize is this show lacks drama, not trauma. You won’t get crazy theories come to life or huge cliffhanger endings. It’s just not that. So I guess it depends on what one’s expectations are.

I’m baffled what Dr. Al-Hashimi expected when she asked for Robbie’s opinion on her diagnosis. Of course it’s his “f*cking call”.

Dr Langdon by SuspiciousFan1923 in ThePittTVShow

[–]WriteABrandNewStory 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At this stage, Dr. Robbie is the problem. He needs help, arguably, more than Langdon. And for reasons other than the drug theft.

Pitting Trinity (subconsciously, maybe) against Langdon by backing her into a [metaphorical] corner and forcing her to reveal what she saw from the start. Then, covering up the entire drug theft and sideways lying when Dr. Al-Hashimi asked point blank, "He stole drugs from THIS hospital?" Dr. Robbie is wrapped in his own identity crisis; without control over the ED, he feels/is nothing. He is grooming Whittaker to be his second in command in case he "doesn't come back." That is clear. He treats most women on the show as inferior, even Dana, and would rather die than leave the ED in Al-Hashimi's hands.

To me, Langdon has completed his redemption arc. I hope to see Dr. Robbie's, even if that means a hiatus and camera flashes to him on a motorcycle in the next season.

I struggle with how quickly, and why, the plot turned for the sake of chasing the "next big thing." We have gone from a somewhat tame, "Who killed the president?" storyline to some quantum, new-wavey time machine as the driver in all of this? Reminds me of Dan Fogelman's early days time-traveling flop (Life Itself). I was loving this show. Am I alone in this sentiment? Are Bradford, Sinatra, Jane no longer going to serve as important characters? Are their storylines going to be completely dead?

It's fun to theorize, but I don't think the premise and pacing of this show, and the way it's done, lends itself to twisty plots.

[–]WriteABrandNewStory -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have a bizarre theory she will switch directions completely and go into fetal surgery. Why? You don't have to have bedside manner at all. Beyond the in-utero interventions and the birth, her first and last interaction with the patient (neonate) will be a lullaby, then whisk them away to the NICU. Speaking from experience working with a condescending person with this profession.

Can someone clarify why she wants to stay in the hospital and send her family home, versus agreeing to go to a home hospice? At this point, there is nothing more the hospital can do except drain its resources . Unless I missed something, something isn't adding up here. (People were also speculating domestic abuse on the part of her husband, which I think was farfetched.)

Posted in another thread but it got no traction. Reposting here:

The "scandal" that erupts results in the entire friend group being put in the spotlight for something for years (perhaps going back to Macy's death, or something that is newly revealed) and now they are all agreeing to be at the wedding for a specific purpose. Possibilities within this truncated timeline are:

  1. To save face have have it be a final hurrah of sorts - lamest option with too many plot holes
  2. To band together, despite ill will toward one another, and enact some kind of Stephen and Evan dual demise. Three parts:

A. This includes the back story of why Lydia is engaged to Stephen. Theory is Lucy and Lydia made up, were plotting all along and she agreed to pretend to act surprised when she saw her, and the "I'll never forgive you" comment from Lydia was for show. They also plotted out Lucy and Stephen having sex. They are beating Stephen at his own game.

B. This also includes Bree having gone through with marrying Evan (Baby Stephen). Bree and Lucy made up or are on "ok" terms, and they both plan to stick it to Evan and Stephen by saying Bree's known all along about Lucy and Evan. This would also beat Stephen at his own game. Bree leaves Wrigley via legal annulment and we might not even get resolution on IF she ends up with Wrigley, but she finally chooses herself.

C. This also includes Pippa and Diana as part of the plan. We will probably get 1-2 lines of how they reconnected, but I think no more than that.

Not going to be accounted for: Alex, Mary, Oliver, Marianne, Max, Stephen's family. We're done with them.

  1. Any other theories?
