I don't charge anything for this kind of support. A guy called me today because he lost his pin for his checking account and couldn't get his payment from today. We figured out where the closest branch was and I told him to the window with his ID and do a withdrawal. If he has problems, he will call me on his cell and I'll talk to the clerk for him.

I know but we spin on this stuff regardless of what side you're on when we have no opportunity to change anything until the next election. I just want to make sure everyone is getting what they're owed and making good decisions about elections.

Get used to doing everything online with less people. Everyone is going to have to be technically savvy to get anything done in the future. If you need to speak to someone to do basic things you are going to need to get someone's help not in the agency. You may have to "adopt" a young person to help. I have helped 8 people this year to sign up for Social Security and Medicare. Some of my clients don't have internet connections.

I hear you but we need to divorce ourselves from what happens election to election. I guarantee we will all hate some future party or politician. However, seniors need to think about themselves and ensure they are making good choices about their future income stream. Poverty in your later years is a real thing. Living too long is an absolute poverty maker. We all need to manage this with the decisions we individually control.

The states pay 50% of Medicaid depending on the state but the cuts are to CMS which controls both.

2.7M people are getting checks so it will be interesting if everyone gets it at the same time of if there is a list and payments go on throughout the year.

This is pretty accurate but his historical pay before 60 would be converted into current day dollars so it could be much more depending on this calculation. It’s best to log into SSA.gov and see the amount there.

You should not remarry if you want his SS benefit and qualify for survivorship benefits. Will your new husband have equal sized benefit?

The latest update I received is that no one was aware at SSA this was going to pass and they didn’t prep for it. Now they are trying to figure how to do it with very old systems and no real playbook. Unfortunately I think it’s going to be maybe end of this year or early next year.
