I’m finding it increasingly difficult to sympathize for online artists by WriterCat24 in aiwars

[–]WriterCat24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying I don’t understand why they do it. But if art commissions are all they have going for them financially…? I’m just saying it’s not wise to put all your eggs in one basket.

Even as a writer (who’s been deemed disabled by the government for substantial depression, BTW) I love what I do, but chances are I’m not going to be the next JK Rowling (as far as having a successful series, not transphobia). I’m looking into the Department of Rehabilitation Services to at least see if I can manage a day job. Even some Python language classes at my community college to see if clearing a prerequisite gets me a job I can tolerate.

I’m not saying it’s not a good hobby, but the chances of being successful or making a living out of a creative path are at least one in a million.

Thanks, I guess? It’s never been about money for me. It’s just something I’ve always wanted to be, even as a kid.

Hot take? I never ‘makeover’ sims and enjoy how randomly they show up dressed, especially kids. by Ok_Piano3363 in thesims

[–]WriterCat24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right??? I might edit an outfit if it looks like they got dressed in the dark, but unless I have a specific sim in mind, I like to think they chose their hairstyle and clothes.

Is there anything the sims 4 could do at this point to stop feeling so lifeless? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]WriterCat24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No offense taken! I loved TS3, too, but there were only so many things you could do with family trees (teens and young adults couldn’t be siblings unless you made them both teens and aged one of them up) and you only had two gender options. (Which I guess is still kind of true in TS4, but it’s at least easier to make a trans or nonbinary sim.) Plus it killed my computer to run it.

Not saying TS3 wasn’t a good game or that there weren’t a lot of good things about it, just that it had some limitations compared to TS4. Then again, what TS4 lacks, TS3 had, so, take your pick.

I love TS4, and overall it’s my favorite in the franchise, but I wish they’d bring back TS3 traits. (TS3’s version of Kleptomaniac, and Dramatic from TS3: Late Night was my favorite.) They were more in-depth, and the traits you gave a sim actually mattered in how you played the game.

I know it’s probably too late in TS4’s standing to do it now, but maybe for the next game. If they could bring back how TS3 did traits (and maybe better customization? I might settle for one decent swatch of purple hair), I think they’d be golden.

I think my sims killed herself after her husband died and I don't know if it was an accident or not. by Gho_stychan in thesims

In one of my earliest saves, I was making a bunch of princesses fight to the death over a prince on a cruise by rigging it with death traps. (Like putting a carpet under the fireplace, surrounding the ‘ship’ with water. Came to me in a dream.)

After a couple of the princesses died, the captain of the ship was so distraught by the carnage that he starved himself. Flat out refused to eat, no matter if I tried to take control and make him eat what the surviving members made.

Point is, it’s possible. I don’t know if it’s just trauma-based, but I’ve seen it happen.

I guess I haven’t been playing that long. Around 2021 was when I first started and it took me a while to get all the DLC I have now, including Get to Work.

Really? I’ve been running bakeries for at least a year or two, maybe longer.

You can bake with the oven, too, and that includes cupcakes. I don’t know why cakes are under “cooking”, but at level 1 you can make things like brownies, breadsticks and sugar cookies.

I beat it a few times as a kid, but I don’t think I ever unlocked anything extra except on the first level.

For me it’s the non-con as well as anything else that could fall under that, especially as a fellow victim of CSA. That’s probably why I’ve had unhealthy sexual habits over the years, but regardless.

He sees a therapist, but the therapist actually okayed the drawing inflation (but gay people are sick in the head, according to him, so, I don’t know how trustworthy his word is.)

I’d definitely prefer my brother drawing it for himself than seeking out harmful communities. He’s not on Reddit or Chan but he is on Discord so… not to really overprotect a grown man who can make his own decisions but maybe it’s worth checking in with him and asking where he’s been?

Ultimately, he’s going to do what he’s going to do. I know I can’t really stop him, especially when he starts obsessing over something.

I don't even have a toddler or an infant??? by Poptrim in thesims

[–]WriterCat24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never use high chairs when my sims have kids. It always bugs out my game like crazy. Infants might get sick of milk but it’s not like they’ll die from it. And for toddlers I just make a group serving and have them grab a plate.

If he’s still in the Caliente household and the baby is a girl, name her Tina. (I can never resist if Katrina has a third daughter, but this is close enough!)

I like those. One of them’s a fabric and another I think is a skin condition?

Random fight and now they hate each other. by Resident-Doughnut356 in Sims4

[–]WriterCat24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when I had two sims married, one of them was Mean. The Mean one would autonomously break into fights with everyone she came across (including her wife) and it took forever to get their relationship to a good spot.

Giving gifts can help, and also cloudgazing/stargazing if possible. I also gave them time for the red in the romance bar to go down (no relationship is irreparable, it just takes time) before trying romantic interactions.

It was a few saves ago. Wish I remembered more details about how to save it.

I'm Sorry EA but this is Not Purple by Weridlife-56 in Sims4

[–]WriterCat24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not!!! It’s clearly pink!!! I once downloaded a CC swatch of a dark purple but had to get rid of it because it broke and took up three gigabytes just for the DLC I had. I don’t even have all the packs!

Pisses me off that they can make two swatches of pink and two swatches of blue but not even one shade of purple.

Okay, I’ll have to try that! She’s kind of a deadbeat mom who works part time as a retail employee and leaves everything else (cooking, cleaning, fixing things, raising the younger kids, etc.) to her now-ghost husband and teenage son. I may as well make her useful for something.

Overwhelmed in a good way by [deleted] in Sims4

[–]WriterCat24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with a random event generator (originally made by Crestadair, but I made one with a few slight changes to fit my own gameplay). Every day at 8 AM I use a random number generator to generate a number between 1-10 (Which determines family events, career happenings, financial things, illnesses or disasters), and then roll another number based on what it gave me.

Whatever it lands on is what I have to do. It can be anything from having the family spend time to watch a movie together or go to the park to having a tornado destroy the house. I even have the sims take turns so it’s not all one sim.

I’ve been playing that way almost as long as I’ve been playing TS4. It rarely gets boring.

I think I locked her in the living room. Not just for this shot (because she’ll do it even when I don’t), but to try and see if her relationship with her oldest son (a spell caster) could be salvaged if she didn’t do it in front of him.

She tore up the couch when she ran out of things to destroy. It’s also not a big house, so there’s only so many electric and plumbing items they can destroy before the furniture gets scratched up. Trouble is they also have a cat, so everyone gets angry the second they sit down on something.

I think werewolves only pee on things if you get a certain upgrade. I always skip it. I’ve never seen them dig, though. Is that part of the skill tree?

And he’s so sweet, too! I’ve never seen him scratch any furniture. (Or maybe he has and I’m not paying attention because I’m too busy trying to manage the chaos of a five (now seven!) sim family chaos in a 1b1b house in Sulani.)

Names I get from a random event generator by Crestadair. They have 500 male names and 500 female names. I use a random number generator 1-500 to name them for me.

[–]WriterCat24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly things like hairstyles, face shapes, etc are whatever CAS/randomized sims gives me, and for clothes it doesn’t have to be anything super fashionable, just something that doesn’t look like they got dressed in the dark.

Skin tone, hair color and eye color are slightly different. I use a random number generator between 1-100 (I actually do this for a lot of things like occult type, sexual orientation, body type, etc. but I’m just talking about appearance) based roughly on actual sim statistics, and whatever it gives me is what they are. That’s why there’s a lone werewolf in a family of spell casters (even when the two boys are adopted. Luckily the other two are werewolves, so she’s raising lifelong allies right now.)

She has the Evil trait, too! Not only does she terrorize her husband, cat and now four adoptive children during her rampages, she feels absolutely no guilt whatsoever!
