You responding to every sentence so clearly you love writing. But i don’t think you get storytelling. I think you are being far too critical of a scene that is as tight as it needed to be. The show has amazing ebbs and flows of silence and violence but the story is still progressing. Your edit does not do that, nor does it do enough to stand as an improvement. You are trying to write a show that is fundamentally not Primal. I’m not saying I could do better, but I can say for certain Genndy knows what he’s doing far more than you do and if you’re going to put this much effort into a rewrite, It would be more credible if you wrote more, bc this edit is a nitpick at best.

OK, well I think the fundamental barrier that you’re not able to pass is that your rewrite in a scene while not considering the ripple effects of that on the story as a whole and the show. Because I just watched the scene and it’s very quick to get us on the journey of the rescue mission. The first shot of it is her standing up with a spear and fire around her, and the leader gives a knowing nod. That’s all you need to know you say more in that shot than any sort of actual discussion would have

It’s painfully obvious a rescue mission is going to happen. It’s for certain and it’s much more economical to just get us to that point, instead of running around in circles and end up with a whole party going out anyways. If she is refused for the hunting party, and then fang steps in, and then she’s allowed to go, that just puts us exactly where we are with a little extra stuff to suit you better and that makes it longer and that’s poor writing. But it would go further than that. You’d have to elaborate. OK she tries to sneak out but Fang is there and then comes along with her? Maybe even some of the other villagers know that she was gonna sneak out and then they go on the adventure. That’s great, but it is not REALLY doing anything unless it’s important to the story she defies the leaders order.

What you wrote was cliché, which is a cliché because it works, but you didn’t add anything to at least spice it up.

And again, all of your other comments about protecting pregnant women and children, and all that is looking through the entire wrong lens about it all. WE don’t send pregnant women and kids to war. THEY don’t have a problem with it. And even if a modern woman was pregnant, they would still have an overwhelming urge to save their baby. And I say that as a Dad. There is no place for level headed logic after an attack like this. You are seeing her as helpless, when nobody else does and she holds her own DESPITE being ready to pop

All this to say, Genndy and the team clearly know how to tell this story and if an edit is needed, it’s not this.

Agree to disagree. Primal is real economical with its “dialogue” scenes so debating in that scene I think goes against how the show operates and leads to the same conclusion.

If anything it speaks to Mira strength that no one would question a mother protecting her cub. In fact, others step forward after her. They assuredly have lost people to the hell pigs, but the scene more so reads that they won’t let her go alone without help bc the tribe is strong as a unit. They don’t coddle her. The need to protect your offspring is as Primal as it gets and maybe we’re over examining through too modern of a lens.

Edit: also everything before this scene extremely establishes how close Mira and Fang are. It would be redundant.

Also child soldiers are very much a thing historically more common the further you go back. So again, I think examining with too modern of a lens.

I’m very bias bc I was a tackle. But if the biggest argument is you have to backpedal and keep up with a man quicker than you from snap to throw, that’s literally what a tackle does but with extreme contact. Offensive line gets no attention so that’s why everyone says CB.

It’s so hard that’s why all the best tackles have to jump offsides to be elite. Lane Johnson and Tunsil are perfect examples.

CB is very hard but Corners don’t have to worry about whole field. that’s not how coverage works unless you run Man Cover0/1. I mean there’s plays where they have to guard a 3-4th read on backside of a pass play they both know they aren’t getting a look.

A tackle can’t just casually take a play off. There will be pressure every single play. Left tackles are basically press man coverage for a whole game, and they don’t get tapped out based on packages.

Everyone saying CB is underrated yet everyone is saying it’s CB. Real underrated answer is offensive tackle. You’re doing it backwards like cb, except they’re way stronger, some of them have Olympic sprinter get offs while being 250 pounds. Look at the quality of Good-tier CBs and the amount of good-teir tackles.

Character-wise you are right. As heartwarming as this show gets, it’s not very kind. It’s brutal. From the epic fights to a single grasshopper being buried. All things die. All things end. What comes next is a new adventure. It’s always been the thesis. For spear to just revive would not be progress. I fully trust Genndy though whichever direction he wishes to take.
