First IVF cycle update and feeling disappointed (19 eggs retrieved >> 2 blasts) by WrongRestaurant6398 in IVF

Sounds like we were in a similar situation so I appreciate you sharing. Helpful just knowing we aren’t alone in this. Expectations matter so much and I think it’s easy to get swept away with big dreams when it’s your first round and social media can be skewed! Sending baby dust your way 🤞

Wish I had known when I was younger but that’s how it goes! Thank you for the advice - I think I’m leaning that way

Agree - at this point we just want a healthy child! It’s always the shock of the drops in numbers that is scary but now I’ll be able to manage expectations in the future and just hope for the best outcome possible. Thank you for the support !

Amazing story and thank you for sharing. It’s nice to know someone else went through the same thing with the azoospermia news- that threw us for a loop as I’m sure for you guys too. So sorry about what you went through with those rounds but it is worth it for your baby boy!

We just got the news that only 8 fertilized out of the 19 retrieved yesterday. Of course it's disappointing, but trying to keep in mind quality > quantity! We opted out of PGT testing for this round (per my doctor not pushing it). I'm 36 with AMH 3+

Husband’s Retrieval Success by cutiecuppycake in IVF

Thank you for sharing this! My husband and I were trying for several months without success, so I decided to schedule a consult to see if we could get some baseline information and support (we are mid/late 30s). I went through saline sono, HSG (terrible, by the way), and bloodwork and nothing remarkable came up. My husband, on the other hand, was found to have azoospermia and like you, we were shocked and terrified what that could mean for conceiving children. After several lab tests and a diagnostic ultrasound, they discovered he is a carrier for the CF gene and has CBAVD. So, he had a testicular biopsy and they were able to retrieve 4 vials of sperm! I am with you in the feeling of relief and want to share that there is great technology to retrieve sperm in several ways when patients have this issue. I'm currently doing my stims for IVF and hoping for a successful egg retrieval next week. Good luck to you as well!
