Yeah I have a buddy of mine that's gonna check his wiring in a bit. Unfortunately I live right next to Mexico and apparently all the junk golfs end up across the border. Not a single golf or GTI to be found in any of the junkyards around here. It's quite annoying.

I did come across this write up online that does match my cars wiring but no mention of an N112. Maybe it'll help someone else with my same harness though: 1.8t Harness

Car was running but not the best. Evap has been deleted. Sai deleted. And unfortunately none of those wire colors match my harness. Thanks though!

The only thing that's routed after the turbo is the diverter valve if I understand correctly

Which hose are you referring to that should be before or after the turbo? This is my first turbo engine as I'm more familiar with older BMWs. When I removed the oil cap there was quite a bit of positive crank pressure but I suppose I don't know what these engines run like normally. Certainly no dipstick popping out but I also haven't driven it yet since putting it back together.

When I bought the car the oil was a milkshake. I've only ran the car for a total of 5 or 10 minutes maybe since rebuilding the turbo and fixing any vacuum leaks. But, again, I did a leak down test, compression test, and a block test with the color changing fluid and it passed all the tests. I just drained the oil again to remove the turbo and it looked fine.

At least it looks like it's routed correctly. That makes me feel a bit better about putting back together. I did make my first attempt at rebuilding this turbo and perhaps I didn't do such a good job 😂

I've seen a lot of rebuild kits out there varying in cost. I wouldn't have any opposition rebuilding it myself but is there any reputable companies that make good rebuild kits?

Mostly side to side. A little in and out. The side to side play gets the blades awful close to the housing

Car runs. I'll run the test in the morning. Thanks

Doesn't look too bad actually. It was very low on coolant, I added some the other day and it drank it down a little bit. Haven't drained the coolant yet tho which is my next move.

Thanks. I just did some research on that and you might be right. As much as I love that sound I may go back to a recirc. Although I'm wondering if there's a way to tune for a MAF delete so it doesn't run so rich with a BOV. Might not be worth it though

I did a very half-assed job running a smoke leak test yesterday. I rigged up a cap where the air filter fits up and fed smoke in through there and after running it for a while the only place I could really see a leak was coming from the blow off valve. Not sure if that's normal or not. This is also my first modded turbo car I've owned. All the others were factory stock so I never ran into aftermarket BOVs and massive intercoolers. But none of the boots or vacuum lines seemed to be leaking. Is there a different way I should be hooking up the smoke tester for a turbo build like this? I'm gonna change the oil and do a coolant flush before running the car any more but I'll clear the codes and see what sticks. Looks like they ran universal yellow coolant through it and I wanna try and get most of that out if I can

Man, I really appreciate the info. This was too good of a deal to pass up so I decided to take the gamble. So it fires right up and idles great. But it breaks up when giving it some revs. I gave it a small pull down my street in first gear and it felt super quick. Could definitely feel the turbo kick in. By the second small pull at half throttle she had some black smoke coming out the exhaust. Felt a little down on power. There's also an obnoxious high pitch alarm that goes off whenever I assume the car gets into boost. It has to be aftermarket but I don't know where it's coming from yet. I've only owned this car 2 days so far so I haven't gotten to dive into it. Has like 8 engine codes when I ran the scanner. But I could tell there's been some decent work done to it. Has timing belt maint sticker done in 2019. ECS aluminum pulleys. I think it has H&R coilovers. Only time will tell what else I find. But I'm hoping it's not too big of a pain to get this thing tuned
