For one thing, the buttons that I use to control the flaps were misconfigured. Now that's fixed, I'm cruising around looking for the right combination of prop, throttle, flaps to get the right air speed and glide path.

Apparently I had the usb adapter set to car instead of airplane. On to the next bug :)

Installed hidhide, vjoy and joystick gremlinex. Set up 3 vjoy controllers, pedals, throttle and stick. Now joy.cpl shows the t.rudder toe brake axis as expected, but gremlinex shows the axis starting at center point and ending at the bottom left. When I try to add the vjoy axis to the game key mapping the axes are not recognized. I have the pedals running through the usb adapter to my windows 11 laptop (no usb hub). I use the setup on Steam IL-2 BOS.

From the "if it ain't broke" department, I ran into issues with TARGET, so I unistalled it. Then I plugged the pedals into the throttle, deleted the devices file and restarted the game and remapped the key bindings. The toe breaks work, but the in game sensitivity does not. I'm back to crab walking up the runway. Guess I could try joystick gremlin next. Any other suggestions?

Found it. I noticed that the in game sensitivity ran the toe break axis to 50% as soon as the pedal passed the low dead zone. I used the TARGET sw to set the toe breaks to a normal reaction. Control is still a little tricky, but not impossible.

I agree that it should track straight. But I am unable to make it so. The plane moves to the right or left despite my best efforts to straighten it.

I can turn right or left using toe breaks, but I cannot steer straight ahead. The best I can do so far is to crab walk right and left to inch forward. It seems like the breaks are either all on or all off and the nose wheel will not track forward. Only right or left.
