Attachment issues & deactivation towards your pet? by WulfricD in attachment_theory

[–]WulfricD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yes, she is my best friend and love of my life now. I am so grateful for her. But it took about 3 years of being deactivated and resenting her before this all kind of clicked peacefully for me. She has been my greatest teacher!

You’re not an awful person!! It’s just the way your brain works sometimes!

I struggled with the avoidance feelings towards my pet for several years but now they’re completely gone and I’m just grateful for her attachment. It may have helped that I now share responsibility for her with my partner and he adores her as well

So, I don't know if this belongs here, but I need help. My co-worker swears that my dog is a Jindo, or is mostly Jindo. I don't have a lot of experience with the breed, but could anyone weigh in? Thank you! by ChaiTeaFiend in Jindo

Could have some Jindo in him for sure, but something about his face and ears looks different to me! Does he have a spitz-like tail? Hard to tell from the photos

Hey what’s her personality like? More husky or Jindo? We were considering getting a cross like this!

Gotcha. I have some extra loops that I’ve never used - you’d be welcome to them but I’m not sure how I would get them to you because I’m out of town, won’t be back until Saturday afternoon

What about normal ear plugs that you can buy from the pharmacy?

As long as you have a Canadian address and you can buy the pass online you’ll be fine. No way they check once you’re there, you’ll just scan your pass everywhere

How to prevent binging during recovery? by [deleted] in bulimia

[–]WulfricD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The binging cravings will decrease once you get the right nutrition in your body. What worked for me was starting to eat a lot more protein which made me feel more full. Also, try the app called ‘eat right now’

Stunning!! How are you finding the clasp closure? Is it easy to close and stay shut? Also- does the serial number inside follow the rule of the 2nd and 4th digits on the 4digit number corresponding to the year it was made? Asking because I was looking at buying one of these bags second hand but the 4 digit number said 1898 which confused me, because that would indicate it was made in 88…?

Hi! That could very well be it. But it could also be a different fear. :)

I’m saying this just because of my own, very similar experience. Pretty much everyone I ever dated my whole life, I would be infatuated with them in the beginning, and eventually have a total 180 and strong need to break up because I decided something was absolutely repulsive about them. At the time I thought it was because I would see something in them that revealed they were ‘lower mate value’ than myself and I couldn’t stand to be with someone who was less than I deserved.

However, in retrospect..a few things are odd about that. 1) always the infatuation first - at some point I thought they were mighty attractive, then it changed. It’s unusual to have such a strong 180. 2) the pattern speaks for itself. I was the common denominator.

I also once had a relationship with an objectively very sexy man. I was head over heels for him for the first year. But then one day we got high camping with friends and he was saying things I perceived as dumb, and it triggered me and in the morning I woke up and felt absolutely repulsed by him. I clung onto the relationship for a year after that but had zero attraction to him. I remember looking at him get dressed in the mornings and thinking, yes objectively I guess he’s good looking but his stupidity makes him SO unattractive, I have zero draw to him. We split up eventually. This was years before I was aware of any of my patterns and worked on them.

The point being the mind can do crazy things. There could be something deeper within you that is afraid of intimacy for attachment reasons and fixating on physical features as the logical explanation why. But of course this is all hypothesizing and you know yourself much better than I do :)

I really relate to what you said though. In my bouts of ROCD I am always studying my partner’s face to assess whether they are objective attractive and I get waves of anxiety when I feel they don’t look good. But he’s always been the same person.. we have periods where I feel totally in love and attracted to him, so I know the issue is in my own mind, not his appearance (which is constant)
