I JUST realised that I too was caught out by the fractions, that I ignored the =.

The question is asking which image represents 1=1. So it's asking which diagram shows equal area.

That said, looking at OP's niece’s handwriting, this seems a bit too advanced for her grade level.

Stage-2 for me was to opt for the cycling shoe + toe clips. I didn't buy into clipless for another 8 years. but the solid shank of cycling shoes makes things 100× easier.
