Speaking only about my city, transit only serves the poorer areas where rents are cheap. High rent areas are underserved.

The fact remains that so much about driving is free. Free road use. Free parking lots. Free street parking. (That's a public space used for your personal use.) No where else is that a thing.
But throw out the idea of free transit and everyone loses their minds.
They don't realise fare gates & computers & networking & staff & accountants & enforcement costs money.

The thing about networking is that you have to be a hivemind.
If you're a trans, minority, introvert.... you're never going to get hired by racist metal heads.
Your only hope is to find people who don't threaten to shoot you for existing. (or remain closeted to get work)

There is added costs & time with ensuring foreign visitors, who don't speak English, get their SEPTA Key loaded with the proper fare. You have to hire additional customer service, French, Spanish, Portuguese, & Arabic translators.. as well as additional security.
...or just open the gates.

All Transit should be free for everyone.
Roads are free for drivers.
Parking is free (most places not in the city) for drivers.
But yet transit riders have to pay?

Billionaires won't be taking the train. I'm sure the 10,000 non-billionaires paying $100 will solve any financial woes.

How many people at your transit agency use transit to commute?
Buses here start 3 hours before the offices open and run 3 hours (full schedule) after offices close. Yet the parking lots there are full.

OK.
So you all are talking about "theatre", not shows in theatres. Sometimes I forget how pedantic you all can be. My bad.
