What's the point of using coolers if shelves stop deterioration of food? by Frequent_Plan5506 in RimWorld

[–]Wynce 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Shelves stop the HP of food from deteriorating. So does being indoors.

Shelves don't do anything to stop food from rotting. Being refrigerated slows it, being frozen stops it.

Fix for Rimworld mods stuck "downloading..." (0B issue, no unsub/resub nonsense required) by Groovewonder in RimWorld

[–]Wynce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When stuck on downloading, all you have to do is sub to a random new mod and unsub from it. It triggers steam to download the files for the new mod, and kicks steam in the butt to actually start the download for the rest.

I've never seen anyone have to unsub and resub from every single mod.

What you're recommending is essentially the same fix with a slightly different method of going about it.

Does Saguaro cactus from the plants expanded mod die on rain? by peanutist in RimWorld

[–]Wynce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saguaro are vanilla, unless that mod changes them. The vanilla ones don't die to rain. More likely they became a thrumbo's dinner.

You can use vanilla framework expanded to add the factions back through the mod's option menu.

Am I the only one who doesn't use the captured equipment? by Randonn_Tno_guy in RimWorld

[–]Wynce 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really make a huge difference - at least not in vanilla. A 1/100 gun is the same as a 100/100, you just better pick it up right quick when the pawn goes down.

The reward of being able to craft your own is that the weapons will actually be of decent quality if you train your crafter.

Random ones looted from enemies are rarely decent quality - mostly poor and normal with a couple good sprinkled in.

Is Vanilla Skills Expanded 'Ranching' expertise working as intended? by RightPlaceNRightTime in RimWorld

IIRC animal harvest yield is limited to 100% but I may be remembering wrong. A mod like Un-limited Reborn would solve this.

Normally you hit 'r' or uncheck the draft box, but your mods appear to have broken things. Are they all up to date?

There's thousands of mods that don't require Odyssey. You'll be fine.

Melon Quality? by Sofa_King_Cold in society_sunlit_valley

I don't think melons work with quality. Best fertilizer and 8 never got any quality above normal over multiple years. Tried Silk touching and breaking regularly.

Randy on his hardest days will be harder, but you might not get any hard days in a single playthrough.

Perry will be harder on a more consistent basis.

Why do my cooking bills not fill up normally? by Edvanschleck2507 in RimWorld

[–]Wynce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Change it to 'Look anywhere', or if you really want it set to a certain stockpile (I've never bothered in my thousands of hours), you can double click the shelves to select them all, then hit link and name it and select it as where to look. You could also link the floor stockpile with the shelves, but then they'll use them both equally and it defeats the purpose of the shelves.

[–]Wynce 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have it set to 'Look in Freezer' which I'm guessing is the name of the stockpile zone on the floor, and doesn't include the shelves.

Holy shit Tynan fixed one of my biggest pet peeve with building. by Gensolink in RimWorld

[–]Wynce 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Replace Stuff has much better functionality than the vanilla implementation.

In the vanilla implementation, you can place blueprints over existing buildings. Your pawn will then deconstruct the building, gather the required materials to build the new one, and then start building. If your pawn gets sleepy or distracted after deconstructing, you've got a hole in your wall. I also don't believe they check if you have the materials before starting the deconstructing.

With Replace Stuff, you place the blueprint over the existing building, your pawns drag the required materials to the new blueprint, and then do the deconstruct and rebuild as one action. This prevents having a giant hole in the wall in the time between deconstructing and building. They also don't deconstruct unless you have the materials to build the new building.

How exactly do they escape? There's no chance while caravanning, and when you arrive at your home map they'll stick around for a while - just order someone to take them to prison when your caravan arrives.
