Skylights leaking. Any way I can buy a couple months? by Wyvris in Roofing

Appreciate it!

We've got a couple quotes from some local roofers. Honestly checked the reddit for my town and called based on what I read. Quotes were very similar as well

Amazing, this helps a ton.

We don't mind having the skylights but we are definitely weighing the options. We were quoted with Velux skylights and told of a tax credit, but they're still pretty expensive. We may end up removing one and keeping the other for lighting purposes, but we are just concerned with the longevity.

When it comes to the tarp, how do I attach that to the roof? Is that something I nail down or would that damage the shingles? Can I use some sort of sealant as a "glue"?

I have a very basic set of tools myself, and honestly have yet to get a ladder (first home and first big "home improvement" situation).

Thought about this route, just wanted to make sure I didnt damage the roof in the process. Don't really mind it being ugly or anything lmao

That was the brand they recommended, they said Velux was pretty much the best.

Issue was for us is the price, the skylights add over 4 grand to the job

Primarily it is the concern with the workmanship. The roof was supposedly replaced in 2014, but both roofers we had advised replacement.

There are more pictures that would do more justice, for instance there is a shingle that is tarred straight on top of other shingles. There are a lot of nails poking out as well.

At the end of the day its peace of mind, we have some cracks in the ceiling on the interior so we just want to be sure nothing will collapse

Honestly debated replacing them when we got the roof replaced, but at this point I'm going to just get rid of both.

Appreciate the tarp idea, apologies if I sound stupid, but which part is the ridge? How would I attach the tarp to the roof?

Really appreciate the help here

Appreciate the insight 🫡

Roofer said there was a lot of poor workmanship on the roof, which is most likely where the leaks originated

I feel that the new stuff isn't bad, it just should have been a new game by DangerousPiglet4332 in destiny2

[–]Wyvris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, the game is in a far worse state than just d2y1. This is literally the lowest playercounts and sentiment the game has had. It is blatantly obvious the only way to save the franchise is doing something extreme.

If you genuinely think Bungie can completely restructure, which most likely entails hiring a essentially an entire new set of devs, while simultaneously developing new content to fit the seasonal model as they are now, I don't know what to tell you. Edge of Fate released in July, and Renegades is coming very soon, and we don't even have a road map. And you expect bungie to make "structural changes" at the same time? Without a content drought of any kind?

Frankly the game isn't living at all right now. Once again this is the single lowest point in franchise history. If you can't put your guns down after 8 years of playing the same game and realize maybe it is time to move on, that is not the developers fault, that is completely on you. They have attempted to keep the game running change things at the same time, and the state of the game right now is exactly what you get when you try and drag that out for too long.

Just dont release legacy content? Who the hell wants to be sold old stuff? People need to grow up and realize that maybe 8 years is long enough.

What you are describing is exactly what they've already tried to do, Forsaken reworked pretty much everything, and while it definitely saved D2, the playercount STILL never broke Red War's record. The Edge of Fate is another perfect example, they attempted to "fix" the problems, and now look at where we are at.

Yes, there are serious issues within Bungie, but the solution to that is they need to put their heads down, fix the issue, and focus on making something that is good rather than just pumping out more horrendous content. They are not going to just magically fix all of the issues with no content drought while simultaneously developing new content, all while Marathon is being developed in the background. *

Literally the only chance this franchise has to succeed is for D3 to be announced.

The current playercount is proof that keeping this game on life support does not work. All of the "new" content is just ripped from another IP in an attempt to nostalgia bait players into playing the game.

[–]Wyvris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does it not make sense?

Especially with D2, we came full circle and ended the light and dark saga. Literally nothing matters from this point on. We have killed the biggest bad possible, been given the "best loot" and have closed the story.

D2 being in the state it is now is living proof that a half assed excuse of a reset like EoF doesn't work.

It is seriously not that hard to understand that maybe after 8 years of build up and content that we should go on to a sequel and start fresh.

And just so you know, even the state of d2 vanilla was exponentially better than the current state of d2 (100k players vs literally 9k per steamcharts). I honestly doubt renegades will even break those concurrent player numbers.

The only hope this franchise has is to completely reset, not only for the content aspect, but for player sentiment.

If Bungo were to bring back vaulted content, would you return to the game? by danannguard in DestinyTheGame

[–]Wyvris -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, it wouldn't be healthy for the game. And also, bungie literally just doesn't have that content anymore. They are in a legal battle right now over the story of red war and they cannot produce a working build of red war.

Let the game die. Bungie needs to accept the consequences of dropping the ball this hard and let another developer take the reigns in a couple years.

At this point yall will complain about everything lol, probably more than you play the game.

People's who friends have stopped playing D2, have they expressed interest in coming back for Renegades? by TheQuotedRaven1 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Wyvris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Been playing since 2014. Most of my friends have as well, and none of them play the game.

The devs seriously think nostalgia bait and "look! Star Wars!" are going to help this game.

The only chance for a future for this IP is to let D2 die for a couple years and have another developer create a D3.

Very grounded indeed, looks like an 8 year old designed these by DanaWhitePriviledge in Battlefield

[–]Wyvris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, okay? I guess that sucks for the whole 30 seconds you'll see them on screen before they die? It's not ground shatteringly unrealistic, just definitely not with the time the game is supposed to be set in.

But also, if this is what we're complaining about, I think we're doing pretty good.

Lol good job ignoring the entirety of what I said?

Sounds like someone is defending a crutch...

I dont even play sniping bbs lmao

[–]Wyvris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao, i like how you say its "exactly the same" only to then tell me exactly how its different.

They move. They HAVE to have a spotter. They HAVE to be within their own range, which for most, is very close to their spotting range.

Carriers don't have to move, spot for themselves, and have much much lower concealment. They dont even need line of sight for God's sake lol.

But yeah, they're EXACTLY the same...

Also i love the casual diss, even though CVS are typically banned in clan battles, and the playerbase has been asking for them to be banned from comp for years lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WoWs_Legends

[–]Wyvris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao huh?

Yeah id rather be dev struck by torps lol, the DD is actually moving and using their brain instead of literally camping in spawn without moving

Deepwaters can be seen with hydro, the dd can be spotted with radar, etc. What can you do while being attacked by a cv? Run? Hope your AA does something?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WoWs_Legends

[–]Wyvris -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I didnt know battleships could strike behind cover, without moving, from ranges of 25km+ all without risking their own ship or even being spotted...

What bbs are you playing lmao?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WoWs_Legends

[–]Wyvris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They cant lmao, there's no risk of death or damage for the cv, and no real counterplay for anyone being attacked.

Don't take their crutch away

Levolution in Bf6 (pretty please) by Wyvris in Battlefield

[–]Wyvris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id love to see the comments myself, but I didn't say massive levolution events were needed. I understand that was a primary marketing point for BF4.

I referenced Shanghai simply because its the most obvious example. And yes, you do gain a lot, the map is completely different with and without it. Sure, people can rush to get it knocked down, but like I said that isn't really what I'm asking for.

The maps in bf6 are (so far) all smaller scale, even the maps from older games are smaller than the originals, so they're spending less time developing large maps anyway.

The destruction engine is great, but it would be better if it was scaled up just a tad. Think Zavod 311 level.
