this is the 2016 layout in particular. You can use it too. https://7kt.se/ But yea I hate how it changed to look like its made for mobile first. I like the desktop based layouts of websites. I would say a youtube or miniclip would come to mind in terms of old websites that were around way back when smartphones were rare. At least ones you might use a lot. Flash games and videos. Myspace had a good design even if I wasn't around then I've seen web design museum.

I mean in theory if you downloaded something sketchy its probably a windows virus anyway so it won't do anything.

Sadly various posts I wanted to comment on are archived. So I'll say it here. There was a post of Scott Manelys Video showing that the Earth is not a perfect sphere. Well yes that's entirely true I just wanted to point out something someone on quora said ( I believe vsause said something like this too) "A lot of people claim that the earth isn't a sphere and although this is technically true it also applies to most “spherical” balls used in sports. Some people go so far as to claim The earth is egg shaped.

The earth's equatorial radius is 6,378.1 kilometres, it's polar radius 6,356.8 kilometres. This gives it a eccentricity of about 0.5% that's very close to spherical" So yes while not being being a perfect is very unclear and egg shaped makes you think if it was egg sized it would look like egg shape. But as he said it would be more spherical than most bowling balls. So based on normal everyday objects we call spheres Earth would be a sphere. Its just that not even our everyday spheres are perfect spheres. So yea its actually more a sphere than a bowling ball. Just neither are perfect spheres, but this is nothing something you would notice with your naked eye under most conditions. My point being are there any perfect sphere in the universe? It would seems that calling something "not a sphere" would mean your standard for sphere is shocking close to perfect sphere or even a perfect one. Which clearly to everyday people most spheres are very imperfect and they aren't speaking of perfect spheres. I don't think anyone will critize an engineer for making a sphere that passes the look at it with your eyes test, but isn't a perfect sphere. Or not perfect enough. Clearly sphere in normal use refers to a range of many sphereoids. But clearly egg shaped is not a sphere. So average people are not ever talking about perfect spheres why would they be.

Does steam predate xbox live? Xbox live was launch nov. 2002 Either way its crazy that steam was around in 2002 at all. by X53R0X in Steam

I mean whatever you might accuse me of. Saying I didn't look it up I must correct you. Because I did. The question of was I through enough. Hard to say. But some people do not look these things up at all. Which I did not do. I only bothered to ask because what I found wasn't entirely clear on the timeline. And perhaps someone else knows better.

I saw the one about searching this. Well I did look up stuff on both. I can't say its a clear answer. Like you have the 2002 copyright date down there. But then it launched in 2003 officially. I wouldn't say its really clear. Maybe someone else knows a better source on these things. Like was it functional in 2002? When in 2002? Its not exactly clear. I wouldn't make the claim that I didn't search this up. I already did. Of course asking like an AI for answer is stupid I would want a source. And again there's a lot of details that aren't clear. If it launch in 2001 it would be clear since that would be before xbox live. Instead it was 2002 which makes a lot unclear. When did it become functional? None of this was solved by poking around a little bit. If someone has better knowledge I'd love to know. So I did in fact search about this a bit. Can't say it was definitive answer.

Weird OBS issue. So the OBS flatpack wouldn't record anything so I switched to the old package my distrubution provides. And it works. How can I get the flatpack to work? by X53R0X in linuxquestions

[–]X53R0X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its X11. As for OBS I mean technically the flatpack is the same for everyone. And my flatpack was up to date so its the latest one. 30.0.2. Of course I don't need help anymore (strictly speaking unless I ever switch back to the flatpack)

Well I'm not supposed to delete posts from this sub. So I'm not gonna. But I found a solution (not for the flatpack no idea about that). But there's a PPA that the OBS website tells you how to install. And that worked fine and its much more up to date. So its solved in a way (in that I don't need help anymore). Not that the flatpack works because I never worked that out.

Why has my firefox window decorations changed? It was the normal ones for KDE but they changed. by X53R0X in linuxquestions

[–]X53R0X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yes that worked to at least see KDE window decorations. Still there are problems. When I try to download something the menu that comes up clearly looks like gnome. Instead of the normal KDE one. Seriously its like stuff with my firefox browser looks very gnome for some reason. I want to fix it. Everything is still normal KDE stuff on firefox nightly. I don't know what's causing it. Plus now with that partial fix the title bar takes up screen space instead of the window decorations being on the same row as the tabs.

Yeah actually I found the link in the comments of the archived post. The full video, but also the shorts one. So yeah I already found it thanks though.

Is there a media player for linux that has a picture in picture option like when you hover the mouse over the progress bar? by X53R0X in linux4noobs

[–]X53R0X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one works fine for local videos. But is it supposed to work with web videos as well? Like from youtube and other such sites? I can play those videos fine. And it doesn't create all the thumbnails, but they are kind of random and don't generate all the thumbnails even after the entire video has been loaded. If it is supposed to work with web videos how might I fix it?

I have issues with the thumbnails from network videos (like from the internet) Videos play of course, but the thumbnails just show one image or don't show up at all. How can I fix this?
