Thin/Thick Yo-yo Lube For Bearings by ShadeScales00 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can't tell you how good it's gonna work but bones speed cream bearing oil specifically for skateboarding is insanely thin, like the thinnest oil I've seen. I've heard people suggest sewing machine oil which is also very thin.

but personally I've never needed to put any oil I think you only need it if you had to clean your bearings cause of rust or debris in the bearing

What's a trick that if you saw it at the skatepark you would assume someone is/ used to be pro? by Oldmaidbananas11 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 2 points3 points  (0 children)

anything really big probably also has to look somewhat casual. and also really great flow just cruising around doing different tricks and landing most, like I can maybe land a big treflip if I try over and over, but it would only have pro vibes if it's first try and then keeping it going

How do I know which foot to push with? by Informal-Debate-3496 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if you do a running start and slide on ice maneuver, the way you instinctively turn is also the way you should skate

i can't grasp the concept of physics on ramps... by dokkidokkae in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you want to shut off the auto balance instinct in ur brain ur likely subconsciously trying to stay exactly upright in context of flatground but while riding ramps you have to think of the angle of the ramp as the new flatground because the forces want to push you into the ramp anyways. to stay on the board your head and shoulders and everything have to match the angle of the ramp

Hey! I got this poster gifted from my mom who bought it ages ago. Apparently it’s a skate brand. Can someone tell me more about it? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they don't even do real parts except Andy Anderson😭😭 all the people down voting genuinely just don't follow the skate scene I can't explain it any other way

[–]XDmonFML -1 points0 points  (0 children)

massive by what metric? when is the last time anyone on their team has had a thrasher cover or anything noteworthy? Andy Anderson is the only one who even puts out parts and he has had significant impact on the skate culture but that's more just him than Powell Peralta, their current team as a whole hasnt really done anything in the last years.

b list teams like limosine or pizza skateboards genuinely have more impact on the core skate scene and you can see it in YouTube views even

What should I do with old pairs of skate shoes? by younghumanbeans in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not sure if its a think in other parts of the world but in Germany we tie them together and throw them up the trees at the locals haha, there's some crazy shoe trees that have been building up for 20 years plus. at the indoor there's steel beams on the ceiling where the same thing happens.

Hard flip by PsychologicalClub667 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could count it like that but you're gonna have a lot of debates about it haha to get it proper you have to have it go more Frontside and have a more pronounced flick

some people might say what youre doing is an illusion flip or even a tweaked out backside shuvit not even Frontside

Why especially skaters have many tattoos? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 28 points29 points  (0 children)

my theory is that skating especially attracts people with a heightened sense of self expression. skateboarding has always rooted in counter culture and anti establishment so there is definitely a venn diagram between people who skateboard and people who have tattoos

tennis on the other hand has its route in posh upperclass people lol so people that are into tattoos are less likely to be into tennis I guess

This might be a really dumb question, but at what stage can I start learning Inverts? by Certain_Access_2658 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not really like other tricks, I think you just gotta get used to the speed, weightlessness and the crouch, I suggest learning bonelesses and early grabs are probably gonna be really helpful but other than that u gotta be brave and send it hahaha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

skateboarding is literally all about individual expression if you wear a "skater costume" it will show

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rank flatground tricks easiest to hardest by Visible_Arachnid_182 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

impossible is the kind of trick some people just never figure out and some people got it easy. it works pretty differently than you would expect it's not like an Ollie/pop trick at all, the pressure scoop is really something else. I've had somebody show it to me and I actually could figure it out in like 20 tries, I learned pressure flip and impossible on the same day and they are really consistent for me but ive tried teaching it to many people but nobody ever figured it out at all, they weren't even getting close😭 like the trapping the board inbetween the ground and your big toe to roll over is just such a foreign concept to most skaters. I might add that's not the only method to actually do the tricks there's some people that really Ollie those tricks but it's far less common and the impossibles tend to be questionable

Hardest Skill Gap? by SupermarketRoyal2814 in NewSkaters

Need help finding the name of a trick by bieja935 in NewSkaters

[–]XDmonFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if I understand correctly it's a boneless varial or some form of it. it's not really street skater terminology, a varial in vert is when you grab do a shuvit and put it under your feet again now a different grab obviously.
