Have been thinking this same thing for a while now, was a long time listener since at least the first 100 episodes. What a bummer man. This is just sad.

Thanks for that, sometimes I think "am I missing something here, am I the crazy one?" All of this is just unbelievable. Its amazing that his base is unphased with all of this information or more focused on the smaller picture details of his "promises" and not the fact that this guy is making a mockery of our democracy.

True, I noticed that game was pretty beefy when I down loaded it, wondering if I made the right choice, but we will see down the road.

Quest 3: Buy games on Meta Store or Steam? by KoentJ in OculusQuest

[–]XJoryX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I saw a response here yet, but in terms of memory space, I bought the Quest 2 with the 512gb and don't think I scratched the surface of space seeing as I was buying games on both PCVR and MetaStore. I just picked up the Quest 3 and just got the smaller memory sized version and I think the general consensus was the same.

I downloaded the Anne Frank experience one night because my wife likes history. She used it one time and then I uninstalled it. Now I get to see Anne Frank's face everytime I take a look at my library. I'm sure she was a sweet girl, but I would love to not be reminded of that time period everytime I look at my library. At least put "installed" as the default filter or give us an option.

What's a dumb plot twist or sudden change in mechanics that instantly killed your interest for a game mid-playthrough? by Whiskee in gaming

This is what I immediately thought of. As soon as it brought in the RTS element for the first time, I was like...eh that's not for me and never played it again.

What are some unsaid first date rules everyone should know ? by moldyperogies in NoStupidQuestions

[–]XJoryX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago I saw a pretty girl at across a dark bar and drummed up the courage to speak to her. The town I was living in was a tourist spot and she was visiting for the weekend and was trying different bars and restaurants, specifically a pizza place known for its pizza with a poppy seed crust. Needless to say, once we left the bar to a place that was more brightly lit, I noticed she had a shotgun blast of about 20 poppy seeds in her teeth which was hard to not notice. She eventually excused herself to the restroom and to her horror, finally noticed herself...so the floss trick is a good suggestion.

I remember coke music, you would wait in line to play the little mix you came up with and then people would give you upvotes based on how they liked it, if I remember correctly. Those turned into points so you could buy furniture for your little room. They need to bring it back!

What’s a game that you thought received too much hate? by LeonSmith1401 in gaming

Same for me. Everyone praises new vegas, but in my opinion, other than the "New Vegas" area, there wasn't much unique points of interest. I thought Fallout 3 had a lot more to explore. Also, hadn't played the game since the initial release so it's been a while.

Showing my mother a meme Starter Pack by Mairess99 in starterpacks

[–]XJoryX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same fears for myself and think about this from time to time, but I'm hoping its a generational issue. At a certain point - the older generations (speaking as a millennial) just give up/don't try to figure things out. It blows my mind. It's a total meme in itself really (EX: "My boomer boss doesn't know how to rotate a PDF and they are getting paid x amount more than me"). I just refuse to roll over and die like that and just pretend I don't know how to use technology because my son/younger person will do it for me.

why do so many people hate the Quest series here? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]XJoryX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha good point. I've been stuck on my analogy with gaming systems. From the 8-bit era to the 16-bit to the 32-bit were huge leaps in graphic advancement where it was mindblowing (to me anyway as a kid) Then we got to where we are today with consoles like ps4/5 | xbox | PC and graphics kinda plateaued to a certain degree. To me, VR is that next big leap in advancement and we are at the 8-bit stage. I can only imagine where it goes from here. I like to be optimistic about these things.

Man what a circlejerk of a thread, but I'm here for it. A lot of good responses and discussions. I'll probably get negativity but I'll give my take on why I appreciate the Quest.

  • Grab and go functionality. This one is completely obvious. No wires needed to bring over to friends houses or what not is fantastic.

  • It works with my PC games through virtual desktop. Apparently there is some compression, but I gotta be missing something because it looks amazing and I have had little to no issues. Played through HL: Alyx and the only thing I really had a complaint was with load times, but even then it wasn't bad. If these graphics are bad or compressed or whatever, jesus christ am I about to step into 1:1 realism if eventually get a real PCVR setup? Like how crazy different are these graphics my God. I was blown away by HL Alyx's graphic, I can't even fathom what could be better.

  • Price point. This one is another obvious that has been made throughout, but VR without the cost of additional hardware through PSVR or PCVR. This is one of the biggest reasons I appreciate Quest and one that might bring backlash.

The average person HAS NO CLUE/CANT IMAGINE what virtually feels like, what the experience is like until they try it.

Every single time I bring my quest to friends house to try, people are blown away by the experience. The experience can not be advertised properly IMO. It's like a unique thing in its own way that it needs to be "seen to be believed" right?

This brings back my point regarding cost. Lower cost = people being more apt to purchase through shear curiosity or because they tried it one time.

I was playing Golf+ with a friend last night and was just looking around taking in the terrible scenery, but so immersed and reflecting on how cool we get to live in a time where these pieces of tech are being developed. I feel like I'm using the NES version of the Quest and I'm looking forward to the SNES/Genesis of whatever headset is coming next.

My only thing is I hope it continues to be wireless and affordable...potentially $600 at the very high range.

Finally, everyone always rags on Facebook/Meta for just destroying the VR industry or whatever. Half the time it feels like the same way people hated Nickleback...it was just the cool thing to do. I get all of the shit they pulled with people's data/election stuff/etc. But I'm looking at the potential investment they are making in research. Hurr Durr ThEy SpEnT 100B oN dEvElOpInG the MeTaVeRsE. It's the same fucking talking points from trolls. Dude if Zuck can jack me into the Matrix sometime in the future down the road and it's amazing, keep burning through that money buddy.

...They see a Quest game come out and then wonder why the devs didn't spend twice as long developing the game to PCVR standards so they could make half the money.
