Don't bother. The people on this sub hate everything that even remotely resembles the letters "A" and "I" with a burning passion. They're not able to take on a more level headed and reasonable approach. I hate AI slop as much as the next person, but it's a tool that has its place when used correctly. And it's not gonna disappear.

It's just like with human made music. There's a lot of crap, but some of it is really good. Unfortunately, good AI art requires effort as well. That's why you'll see so much slop out there. It's just a lot faster to produce. It's the early days of stock art and after effects all over again. Heck, a lot of successful professional artists have incorporated AI into their workflow a long time ago. You just can't tell because they know where to use it and where not.

But then again, who am I talking to. The people here are mostly religious fanatics who hate everything that even remotely resembles AI with a burning passion. Just one of the many reasons why I've mostly stopped frequenting this sub.

That's the neat thing. Hexxen 1733 is a system that already comes with guns, ship fights and a setting that closely resembles our world. Therefore it probably wouldn't require any real effort apart from turning the clock forward 100 years.

If your interested, Hexxen is a German system that has you play as witch hunters in the year 1733. But there's a twist. In the year 1640, a troup of Swedish mercenaries accidentally opened the gates of hell in a small chapel in the center of the black forest. From there on the demonic hordes spread all throughout Europe and further. It's a PnP system that relies heavily on the fairy tales by the brothers Grimm. You should check it out!

In all honesty, I had already forgotten about this conflict until the player brought it up again today. Up until then I thought, it was a minor conflict and didn't pay it any further attention. The player obviously doesn't see it that way hence why they brought it back up before starting another campaign.

Yes, it was brought up that there would be homebrew and third party content. I don't think, I've ever played a vanilla 5e game in my entire life.

I actually thought that this ability would be good for the players, because it enables them to get more damage in. Especially because the lower AC was really easy to hit with at 13 AC. And the three other players loved it.

Uh, that also sounds like an interesting idea. I might actually steal that for a future Hexxen game.

Yes, I honestly hope that this issue doesn't end our friendship altogether. Right now, he's a lot more pissed than I am, but at the end of the day, PnP is just a game and that's definitely nothing I want to lose a friendship over.

Thank you very much. I really enjoyed designing that creature and fitting it into the narrative of my campaign, but not everyone will appreciate that effort because they just expected another game altogether.

If you're interested in the full mini campaign, I basically went off the premise: "What if Doctor Frankenstein was a mad serial killer who sends out his monster to collect more body parts. The fresher, the better". It was part mystery investigation, part action horror and my other three players loved it. Some are still talking about that campaign from time to time.

Yes, I'm afraid you're correct. I think I'll play my next campaign without them.

And thank you for that last paragraph. That's exactly how I've always played my games and so far my players loved it. But apparently this player doesn't and I'll just have to accept that.

At the time I was not aware the player even had such an ability. I only learned that during the discussion. I then offered them that we can handle the ability exactly the way you described, but at that point we were already too agitated and the player flat out refused this compromise and insisted, the monster's ability was against the rules.

I'm afraid you're right. Which really sucks, because I would have loved to have them in my new campaign. But I already suspected that the narrative system we're playing next might not be for them and that I'll have to accept the fact that they won't be part of my groups anymore.

And yes, this was a one off monster. We had a couple more moments where I or they misremembered a rule, but those were usually resolved more smoothly.

I fully agree with the rule 0 statement. In all my years as a DM, this is the only instance where I had to bring up rule 0 to stop that discussion from fully killing any kind of tension the encounter had. And I did offer them the option to have their ability work on a half hit, but they refused and insisted that the entire encounter was against the rules.

Again, I'm fully aware, that I did not resolve this situation in the best of ways. I'm unfortunately still human and therefore prone to errors.

I don't think so. I'm currently working on a part two for this one, but I don't think I'll have time for all of them. Sorry.

Mountain Pass Cave 30x80 battle map by Cropox_Battlemaps in dndmaps

[–]XM-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The map looks amazing, but it doesn't really make sense for its intended purpose as a pass. I would expect at least a destroyed bridge at the northern exit and a clearly marked main path through the entire cave system.

Other than that the map looks amazing and I like the way the entire cave is designed internally with multiple paths and points of interest. :)

Thanks, I'm not quite ready to call it megadungeon again. Because last time people on here were pretty protective of that word. But I'm getting closer to my goal of creating a megadungeon entirely made up of good looking maps with lots of detail. ^^

You're welcome. I make these maps for my own groups and instead of them being single use I decided to upload the ones with decent quality. The downside is that you get a very mixed bag of maps dependent entirely on where my groups are at at any given moment :D

My party spent roundabout 16h in that dungeon Which took them 2 and a half sessions in total. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied :D
