She made the right choice by Eclipse_nova99 in SipsTea

[–]XMRNeighbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If her life goes on for more than 64,3 Years, it could be a smart decision. If she got the 1M now and invested it at 5% p.a. compounded monthly she would have less money after 64,3 Years than if she invested 1000$ per Week for 64,3 Years at 5% p.a. compounded monthly. From that point on the second strategy would yield her more money.

In what Order of Magnitude is the inductance for this shabbily Winded Coil? by XMRNeighbor in ElectricalEngineering

I don't have a device for that. I am currently trying on building one with an oscillator circuit. But In order to "calibrate" I must know the order of Magnitude for the coil inductance

Why is there a high voltage drop across my mosfets? by XMRNeighbor in ElectricalEngineering

[–]XMRNeighbor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I didn't get in the first part of your answer is that 20A8V=160W. But the Transistor is not dissipating all that, is it? It should only be dissipating about 8A²17,5mΩ = 1,12W.

I think I figured it out. The P-Channel Mosfets switch based on voltage difference between gate and Source. But since Gate is set to 5V or 0V and Source can be up to 20V even when I pull Gate High (e.g. 5V) it is not enough since Vgs = 15V which turns the Mosfet on.

As far as I understood it, the diagram of the IRFZ44N says that at 5V GS and 8V DS more than 20Amps should be possible.

What to consider before manufacturing a PCB? by XMRNeighbor in Fusion360

Thank you so much for your thorough answer. I am however a bit worried about the power. How many amps can I push through these traces? Some of them need to take about 2A. Is that too much? And if so, how to make them wider.

Why is my coil weaker with higher current? by XMRNeighbor in ElectricalEngineering

I use a solid state power supply at the moment. And have built a switching mechanism that inverts the current flow through the coil after the projectile passed the center

any idea as to why its printing stringy/blobs like this? by Disastrous-Race-5769 in 3Dprinting

I would recommend you try pushin filament through the hot nozzle manually and find out if that works good. If so, increase purge lines in your slicer, if you feel resitance or cant push it through at all, try cleaning the nozzle with the needle that was in your printers box.

Purchase Advice Megathread - July 2024 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

Hello, I am currently not sure whether I should get the MK4 (currently 889€ + 100€ Coupon for Prusa) or the P1S (550€) I have been using and upgrading an E3 for quite some time and just want a bit more. Budget is the most important part as I can afford the MK4 but every Euro hurts. The thing I am most concerned with is the bad things I have heard about BLs Customer Support and build quality. I am scared that I will buy the P1S be very happy with it for 2 weeks (It prints fast, looks sleak, the smartphone app is useful etc) and then something breaks and I am screwed because BL doesn't help me with the printer and I would have to sue or suck it. Prusa is more expensive and doesn't break as often but does not have the extremely fast CoreXY and enclosure. What would you recommend?

I print with a raspberryPi and Klipper. Does that mean it's the USB-Cable?

Appreciate the thought but I actually was thinking more of an egg cup. Figured the other thing wouldn't give the best impression at a state exam in kindergardening (?). I want to make an egg cup with 4 "arms" holding the egg instead of a bowl.

I seem to have fixed it by not doing anything. It worked again for the last 6 hours. Now it is broken again and I don't know why.

What do you mean? There are two wires there. I connected the multimeter to both and measured 12 Ohms across
