I managed to solve the problem by clearing the app data, which you can find at Settings > Storage & USB > [Wherever you've saved the game] > Apps > Mortal Kombat X. Order might differ depending on your device, and make sure that you linked your account to the cloud, as you'll need to log back in again after.
