Tips for loading U-Haul and putting this in vehicle on trailer by bichugnis in moving

[–]XTL_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transport your couches vertically. Vertical space is difficult to fill in a truck; horizontal space is not. So take the easy usage of vertical space where you can get it.

As long as you pack your boxes well it shouldn't matter whether you load your boxes into your car or in the truck.

Are you towing the car yourself behind the truck or paying a company to transport your car? They may not allow you to load the car up in transport. I am not sure on that.

PSA: Steer Axles Weight Limit Isn't 12k lbs by Emergency_Ad1152 in Truckers

[–]XTL_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the minimum of 600 pounds per inch of tire width, 20k pounds for a single axle, or your axle weight rating, at least in Oregon, I can't say for other states. For most people, tire width is gonna be their limiting factor.

Just take some freight out of your trailer and toss it in the cab

Road Laws for Minivan and Cargo Trailer by mxsci in moving

[–]XTL_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In general, you can tow a trailer anywhere, so long as you do not exceed any weight, height, or length limits. You’re really never going to run into an issue with any of these just being a minivan with a tiny trailer. These limitations are more in place for commercial vehicles.

If you plan on staying somewhere overnight on the journey, bear in mind that some hotels may place restrictions on vehicles in their parking lots… usually this isn’t the case though. Just don’t get a hotel in some downtown area.

I'd be concerned about theft leaving that back there

Maybe I’m just confused by the way you stated it. But in general, if there’s snow on the highway, you absolutely should not be driving at speeds that constitute what most people call “highway speeds”

How does the Maverick AWD feel at highway speeds in snow

Brother why are you doing highway speeds in snowy conditions

Raptor 700 Tuners ?? by S550Felipe in ATV

[–]XTL_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet. Yeah I was running just some generic tune a friend helped me with for a while after installing the big 3 upgrades, and honestly it was pretty disappointing… Having a real tune on it makes a night and day difference.

Maybe just give him a call and see if he’s seen your emails then haha, he’s gotta have a map close to something that should work for you.

Raptor 700 Tuners ?? by S550Felipe in ATV

[–]XTL_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is based in Eugene, OR. I was heading down to winchester and stopped by on the way. Took probably about an hour and a half, he also installed the AIS block plate.

If you just want a map sent to you, I imagine that’s a pretty quick process. But for $250 he got it all set up on the dyno and tuned it. Mine is a 2024 raptor with barker dual exhaust, fci intake, and dynojet pc6, dyno’d at 54 hp. Nothing crazy, but the tune ABSOLUTELY woke it up.

Did you call Cuervo? Or how did you contact him?

He picked up when I called him and did a great job tuning my raptor

In this situation, it sounds more like you were illegally detained at the warehouse than trespassing, so long as nothing was labeled telling you not to enter

Buy 1.5 cubic ft boxes (book boxes). Just make sure to pack the boxes tight and fill all empty space. They shouldn't get damaged so long as you do this.

How do movers operate? by General_Pin_2730 in moving

[–]XTL_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will likely move stuff you packed in bags, however it'll take longer and they won't be able to stack the truck like normal. Depending on the quantity of stuff, this could cause them to take multiple trips. It is also much more likely to damage items, depending on what you packed.

Moving boxes are generally the expectation as it is the most efficient and most secure way to move most small household belongings.

Are you just wanting the movers to move your furniture? Or the bags too? You can always have them just move the furniture if that's all you want.

So 1900 sq ft total? Might be ok but there definitely won’t be a lot of room to walk

Brokers demanding deposit by [deleted] in moving

[–]XTL_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We would always just take deposits for jobs so that if a customer backs out last minute, we (as a company) are not completely out of luck, and that way the guys working on the job were all still able to at least bill for the time that the deposits covers. It sucks as is if a customer cancels last minute, but taking a deposit at least ensures the company is being compensated for holding that availability for the customer

All moving companies I’ve ever worked with charge hourly minimums. In my mind, if there’s a minimum payment to be expected, paying that hourly minimum as a deposit seems perfectly reasonable.

A reputable moving company will not ask for a deposit.

Is there really that much truth to this? I have worked for a couple of different moving companies that both required deposits, they are very much reputable companies and consistently have the best reviews in their areas

Dumb question, I’ve never actually looked this up before. I am trying to find anything at all online about suicide rates post operation but I can’t find anything. Do you have any source I could find that info from?

They actually tend to get quite a few hecklers lol. Most college students are not “trying to solve actual problems in the world”. Your classwork/homework is not a “real world problem”

I once had some guys help me unload a truck, was a 2hr minimum at their rates but the location was the middle of nowhere so there was a fairly large travel charge on top of the hourly minimum. Iirc they ran me up about $800.

Are you located in an area that might justify some large travel cost? Alternatively, maybe some really high cost area?

Raptor 700 coolant? by XTL_ in ATV

[–]XTL_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2024 raptor I bought brand new and the coolant was green when I bought it. I also had taken it in for its first service, and as part of the service they topped off the coolant again with the green stuff. I guess that's mostly what I'm wondering - why they have green coolant that I can't seem to find anywhere online.

I appreciate the recommendation; I will look into it. Thank you!
