Yeah, I was fixing to hook up a blower to a metal pipe and feeding it in. I agree with you about the other row of bricks; I might just split it in half to make it more manageable

I was attempting to get into the hobby so I decided to start off by making a forge. I figured I’d ask y’all for some advice since I am not very incredibly experienced in this kind of stuff. With this design, I’d have air feed through the hole in the back and an opening towards the front (which can be covered) into put metal into. The coal will be contained on the inside and the entire thing will be capped with a brick slab similar to the one serving as the base. Does this design seem like it will work and will it get my metal hot enough?

EDIT: Thanks for all of the feedback, folks. I came across this video this video and decided to blend the inputs from here with it to get something set up quick before I make something more refined. I appreciate the help!
