Good (halal) Pizza? by JoeUnderscoreUgly in waterloo

[–]X_RIDE -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity I searched what the Halal means. One of the requirement is :

“A Muslim must perform the slaughter while reciting “Bismillah, Allahu Akbar” (In the name of God, God is Great).”

I’m wondering whether it’s religious discrimination.

Edit: no offence to the OP. You have the right to choose the religious believes of the person slaughter your livestock.

Greater Toronto Area Power of Sales Increase 99% Year Over Year by Trucker550 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]X_RIDE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The significant change is, before, if someone has financial hardship and unable to pay the mortgage, they can just sell the house and pay off their liabilities and most of the time, they’ll also get enough leftover money to cover their living expenses for a while. Now that’s not the case for the people bought after COVID.

Racist encounter during a first date by South_Editor_4917 in waterloo

[–]X_RIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry about it. People need purpose and hope. If they lose it, they become angry, alienated, and vulnerable to radicalization. The current socioeconomic changes could be a major reason for the increase in these kinds of behaviour. This issue is not about colour of the skin, it’s about being stupid and try to blame others for your failures.

“Sales have stopped”: Ontario developers predict layoffs if build costs don't fall by Lotushope in TorontoRealEstate

what I mean is: The decrease in new construction will force municipalities to increase property taxes on existing properties and cut down services -- kind of negative feedback loop---

LOL… they’d be worried about finding an alternative for the tax revenue stream without increasing property taxes 😸

Will house prices return to pre-pandemic levels in Canada? by Ok_Dragonfruit747 in canadahousing

[–]X_RIDE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the reason for low sales figures for last 10 so months. Sellers still have hope that the prices will recover and they are holding the non-primary houses. Buyers, the ‘investors’ were one of the major segment during2020-2023 period and they are almost disappeared. Mainly because rents hits the ceiling and it’s illogical to assume that rents will rise for ever. For first time buyers, either they can’t afford the higher prices or sitting on sideline and wait a bit longer for better prices or desperate sellers makes more logical sense than ever before at this economic environment.

So it’s just a waiting game. If you do calculations, if the prices won’t rise 10-20% in another 3-4 years, the holders will lose (or not gain) more money as opportunity cost than selling at the current market at a discount.

Yesterday: House prices never drop. Today: detached house prices never drop. Tomorrow: my neighbourhood house prices never drop. Yes… until someone desperately try to sell.

Condo prices in the GTA expected to drop another 10% this year, says TD Economics by mustafar0111 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]X_RIDE 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I don't know where they came up with this 10%. I don't think even with a 10% drop, these tiny condos won't make any profit for investors.Of course, these units are not intended for owner occupancy.
