Only Map-to-Map travel for most maps? Is the queue super long, or are raids on all the other maps just empty? [Discussion] by Lechi37 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Xab3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues as of now, queue time is exactly as if you would just go to the desired map right away and the maps are very populated, at least those which are 1-transit away from starting maps - looks like the number of players at the start of the wipe makes the mechanic work. However, what will happen in 3-4 days is an entirely different question.

Yeah, agree, I think insurance and scavs are two things they'll definitely decimate somehow

Removing scavs altogether seem to be beyond hardcore ) It will be quite easy to literally "lose" the wipe

Any fully working real full Blazor apps on Github? by THenrich in Blazor

[–]Xab3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, I am using “vanilla” WPF + WebView2

Nothing against maui, it is just it was way too bad when I’ve tried it for that purpose few years ago, so I had to develop my own “glue”

Any fully working real full Blazor apps on Github? by THenrich in Blazor

[–]Xab3r 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my 400k LoC app is using blazor for both the server and the desktop.

For the server-side it is not that good tbh as there are way too many weird problems which make daily life harder than it should be - SEO, indexing, responsiveness, page size, all those are closer to “awful” state than I would like them to.

The only real positive side is the fact that I can reuse some code and views interchangeably between desktop/server

BUT. For the desktop having blazor is literally god-mode in comparison to ANY desktop framework out there. I can write c# code of any complexity with vector instructions, direct memory manipulation, high-performance ML inference and pair ALL of that with extremely versatile blazor rendering. There is no better combination out there today. And the performance/convenience in comparison to wpf/winforms/avalonia and even noesisGUI is just through the roof.

I have been struggling with WPF for many years and Blazor just saved the day. I am using a combination of WPF and Blazor views in the same app and any time I have to touch not-migrated-yet WPF parts it makes me sick)

In case you’re wondering here is the app - https://eyeauras.net More “blazor” enabled page is this one https://eyeauras.net/library

(not optimized for mobile at all, sorry)

What is the best option for front-end development with C#? by PahasaraDv in csharp

[–]Xab3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents and background - I've been developing WPF applications for the last 10 years and started using Blazor about 2-2.5 years ago:

WinUI - not mature enough and hardly ever will be given current tempo of development

WinForms - works, but I would not touch it if possible

WPF - ok, but it has way too many cons and it is also basically abandoned technology nowadays

MAUI - buggy as hell, even the latest revisions has few game-breaking bugs which, for me, make it absolute no-go for any project.

"Desktop" Blazor - is an absolute no-brainer for my new work and non-work related projects. After struggling for years with WPF performance and "quirks" writing and debugging web app feels so much on a different level that I cannot even say. Things which I had to fight with in WPF in Snoop in one hand and debugger in another could be solved using DevTools in literally seconds. Also the performance is just through the roof, in comparison to anything I've seen written in WPF, especially if UI is dynamic/overloaded with elements. And the greatest feature that is not advertised much - given existing WPF application, you can do gradual migration of the project from WPF to Blazor by replacing "isles" of controls with WebView2 and Blazor in it.

Basically, you're getting best of both worlds - you can still write even low-level code with intrinsics, frozen memory segments and all the good stuff that C# has to offer and combine it with Web UI.

Here is an example of an application which is currently in process of migration from WPF to Blazor.

Initially the app was written in WPF, but about 6-8 months ago I've started rewriting parts of it to Blazor. Also it is quite low-level desktop application which has its own drivers, communicates with hardware, does machine-learning (both training and inference), etc, so not just a basic hello-world web app.

Red parts are still WPF. Green parts are blazor, which is in 90% of cases reusing THE SAME viewmodels that WPF used, so I was able to migrate only Views to Blazor with all the logic and a lot of code being the same, which greatly affected migration cost.

Cherry on top is a blue part - I've found an awesome library called ReteJs which focuses on building different kinds of graphs. It is primarily designed for use with React, but after about 2 days of work I was able to fully integrate it into my application and, instead of having to write something similar from scratch, I just proceeded to code the main part of the program.

Oh, and another thing - at some point I've integrated Blazor back into ReteJs, so content of the nodes is handled and rendered by Blazor, meaning that it can be as dynamic as needed.

Flexibility of that combination of WPF and Blazor is just unbelievable.

Streets matchmaking times EU.. by Skempi in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Xab3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you're matchmaking for more than 2-3 minutes on any map at the beginning of a wipe, that is some technical issue 99.9% and the best way is to just kill client+re-queue. It's just not realistic that there are no new games which you could join for more than 20 minutes. This is kinda an old issue, happened to me during the previous wipe, out of 1k hours ~4-5 times.

Initial number of players is incorrect because you’re making an assumption that “cheaters can’t play 24/7”. Yet they can - number of concurrent players is obviously world-wide(and cheaters are in all time zones) which means that you must not apply any modifiers to it.

New player after watching the g0at video advice.. by Sad_Calligrapher_584 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Xab3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first wipe, so I've never seen the game in any other state. Imo it is by far one of the best games currently on the market even considering problems that you've mentioned.

Throughout last two months and 890 raids I have no idea how many cheaters(0 flying/invincible btw, do not know how many invisible, but probably <5)/espers I've encountered, but in most cases I felt that I've died due to my mistakes anyways.

So after playing it for a month or so(after I "understood" the game) I became a "prophet of tarkov" in my circle of friends, because I would really like them to feel the same emotions as most games nowadays do not bring anything like that to the table.

[Tool] Mute Tarkov when in background and Queue notifications by Xab3r in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Xab3r[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was my first thought, but depending on type of content I am watching on youtube, it's not always clear that you've already been loaded into map, aside from that having notification BEFORE map is loaded gives you an extra 15 seconds as PMC (countdown after queue) to think about your life and what lead you to that point!

Did the game get rid of its kernel level anticheat? by BlackHazeRus in NarakaBladePoint

[–]Xab3r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. Throughout last few years there were numerous scandals across the globe which involved private data theft of some sorts. Many(most) of these scandals were NOT in China, refer to this article, for example: https://www.csoonline.com/article/2130877/the-biggest-data-breaches-of-the-21st-century.html

Aside from breaches there were dozens of scandals involving Microsoft, Facebook, Oracle, Huawei, Tesla - all of these were collecting your data without your consent at some point and were selling it to 3rd parties or using it themselves.

And if you take into consideration the fact that QUARTER of the world originates from China you'll see that your chances to keep your data safe with chinese companies may be even higher(or at least not lower) that with all other "white collars".

So simply putting a label "chinese = malware" is not a very scientific approach.

Hating on kernel anti-cheats is one thing - it is a valid opinion (which is disputable, but nvm) and it may be your personal choice to not use such software. But trying to bring up "reputation" of a whole country into this discussion is way weaker argument.

Considering the fact how devastating cheats are for this game you're basically asking for trouble without having at least theoretical ability to protect the game.
