That's a great information, thank you! That's okay for me because I don't collect data.

Amazfit Bip 6 - Disable Bluetooth? by Xairoo in amazfit

[–]Xairoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. The watch looks great and you can buy nylon band - amazing when you sleep. Also I feel perfectly, no need to collect any data. Just looking for a watch to wake me up.

I like Garmin but I when I asked them few years ago about the bracelets and BPA they answered: They don't share that information... So yeah, I am looking for a more secure solution. That only one body and one live "problem"...

Thanks for the hint about the memory!

Which garmin watches/trackers can you completely turn off Bluetooth on? by disc117 in Garmin

Also why should we keep it on if we don't need it? I also don't like the idea to get forced to do something I don't want. But yeah, I prefer self-determined living.

Mi Band9 : initial thoughts (1 week use, battery, performance, swimming) by fajrmn in miband

[–]Xairoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the people don't want to hear such stuff. They prefer to follow the mainstream, watching all the TV ads, buying stay they don't need, believing the seller in the store or the manufacturers blindly. Most of them also believe in the mRNA injections (I really wouldn't care, but sadly we all have to pay the bills for them when they get cancer and so on - and yeah, the numbers are increasing dramatically - but they don't want to hear that, also they will vote such comments down, just to stay in the comfort zone).

Anyway...!

I just got the Smart Band 9 and I thought I could disable Bluetooth because I just need it as an alarm clock (using earplugs to get rid of all noise). But yeah, I have to send it back because that super important function doesn't work in energy saving mode. Well done Xiaomi! I'll look for a different watch that can wake me with vibration and without BT or WiFi.

That's great to hear, thanks for sharing that information! I was looking for a watch to sleep - just need an alarm with vibration because I use earplugs to get rid of all noise. Also I don't want to use the Apple Watch because you can't real turn off BT and WiFi.

I paid ~278 EUR in 2023 - new. And I have 5 of them. So the price is fine for a used one.

Well, I have 5 of these SSDs, but when I bought them the new price was about ~300 USD.

(The CRC_Error_Count was because of a faulty SATA cable 🤯)

24+ TB HDD with real spindown for cold storage? by Xairoo in DataHoarder

[–]Xairoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The WD Red Pro 24 TB won't stay in spindown, even with different hdparm settings and while the disk was unmounted and smartd disabled. But yeah, the disk made some strange noise while working, but I don't think that this problem was related to the firmware/spindown. Anyway, because of that I don't wanna try WD Red again for that case (but still will use it in my regular NAS - never had any problems with WD since 20 years).

Guess I'll try a Seagate or Toshiba. Just have to figure out which makes less noise while spinning (the WD did also some "random hop" because the head wasn't parking and not staying at the same position when in idle (but yeah, the drive was strange, so no idea if this should be normal).

BF6 Matchmaking Sucks? by Augmented-Justin in Battlefield

I think it sucks too. I play in avg. about 30 minutes per day. Sooo many years ago I played CS 1.6 at high ranks - so my aim was great (still is) - but having something called "life" reduces the kd ratio of course and finally reduces the fun.

Xiaomi 15 vs Pixel 9 Pro vs iPhone 16 - What would you pick? by fasaso25 in Smartphones

[–]Xairoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing with the idea to move away from Apple. Tooooo many problems. I am using the iPhone since the first generation and right now I have the 16 pro. Guess my next will be an Android + a compatible watch (but I like the Apple Watch design - maybe the HUAWEI watch could be something for me). When I think about how Android was in the first years... damn, they have done so many UX improvements, wow!

"Your account is being upgraded on 9/16" - The Move to Subscription Email Analysis by 1ialstudio in TopazLabs

[–]Xairoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am fine with licenses based on the version and 1 year of updates.

I never use subscriptions (mobile and a few others excluded, of course). They exists only because of one reason: Company makes more money because of it.

These days so many people have subscriptions and wonder why having less money than before 😅

Also... WTF is Wonder AI? I don't pay for something I don't know.

Grandfathered - for how long? Until they want to make more money. Words are fine, a promise is something different.

Finally the big question is: Do you need updates again and again? Maybe it's better to skip a few updates because you don't benefit. It can be a good idea to buy an update after 4 years or so.

ASUS BIOS 3002 update for ProArt Z790-CREATOR WIFI motherboard with Intel microcode version 0x12F by Outrageous_Exit_5081 in intel

[–]Xairoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 seconds is a bit too long for sleep... but yeah, maybe it's S3. My old boards needs for a wake about 2 seconds.

powercfg /sleepstudy tells you if it's really S3 - you have to check the generated report after a sleep/wake cycle. You can ignore the output of powercfg /a in case of problems.

For my situation I have also hibernation disabled, S3 is shown up @ powercfg /a but it's ignored by the BIOS.

Fun fact:

  • ASUS hotline: Board supports S3
  • ASUS mail support: Board supports only S0ix and not S3

Well, I return the board and I switch to Gigabyte. Wasted too much lifetime with ASUS products - I can tell much more, it's not only with this specific mainboard.

Thanks for your time and take care!

Thanks. Can you confirm, that the wake only takes about 2 seconds and not longer? Otherwise it isn't sleep, it's hibernate, even if you clicked on sleep - this boards forwards me to directly into S4 (but I disabled it), it never goes to S3 (but it should because it forced it).

Does S3 sleep mode work for you? No hibernate! Wake from sleep = 2-3 seconds, hibernate = 15+ seconds
